That's pretty stupid. Why would they do that?

To curb down on used game sales and rentals. If you can't erase your save, the game's value is reduced for resale and less copies would end up going to the second-hand market. Who'd want to buy a game in which everything is already completed?

Gamefly has already listed RE Mercenaries 3D as "not rentable"

It's bs and draconian DRM.

I'll be skipping these 3DS games.

Resident EvilOperation Raccoon City producer would love to develop a Resident Evil title for Wii U:

Hopefully Capcom will wisen up before RE Revelations releases. I'd rather play that than RE ORC or any RE games made by that studio.

This game has me tempted to buy a 3ds and resident evil revelations. The games coming out for this little system is impressive luigis mansion 2 looks awsome , new mario coming out. Star fox 64 remake comes out in sept. I know I def want a ps vista but this 3ds is starting to get more tempting.

That's pretty sneaky on their part. I'm looking forward to Revelations as well. Hopefully, they don't pull the same crap with that game.

Capcom tries to kill used video game sales with the one-save game

(snip)
.....It's been confirmed that Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D for the Nintendo 3DS is a game that once finished, cannot be reset for complete replay. According to both the U.S. and U.K. game's instruction manual "saved data on this software cannot be reset."

Basically what Capcom has done is make Mercenaries 3D a one-time play affair. Once you've unlocked all the goodies and played the entire game, you will not be able to erase the game's save data and start fresh as if it were a new copy. Consider this: lending Mercenaries 3D to a friend, a little brother or sister will be worthless because they'll only be able to continue playing the game with your saved settings......

I have played it for about 2 hrs. I like it so far, its fun and controls well. Graphics look solid, save for a few wonky/clunky animations. If you have played Mercs before, you know what to expect. New to it is a new "perk" system ala COD, and "trophies" that you can unlock. It also seems that you can change the weapon load-outs, but I don't seem to have access to that yet. Overall its a solid title, especially since I was able to get it for $18 after using the BB $25 GC I got last week when buying 2 games. Recommended for RE fans or people looking for a shooter outlet on a handheld.

I find it kind of annoying because I sometimes borrow a friend's game to try it out and vice versa. Won't be able to do that with this, but I'm probably going to buy it anyway.

I'd rather someone borrowing helped me unlock more stuff, but thats just me. :) Hit me up with a friend code if you get it BB.

That's true. My friend had me transfer my save file with all the extras for RE4 to his memory card back in the day because he didn't want to deal with unlocking all the stuff on his file.

I'll definitely send you my friend code if I pick it up.

Well, I just played for the last 2 and a half hours. Loving it so far. I've unlocked everyone but Wesker.

My favorite mission as of now is the "wave" one. sooo much fun.

The 3D isn't spectacular but it's cool. This is only my second 3DS game, Ocarina of time being my first, and the 3D on that was far more impressive.

The revelations demo was mean...it's horribly short, but it gives you a great taste of the atmosphere. That game is going to be graaaand.

Is Mercenaries and OOT worth buying a 3DS for?
