I think the new raid mode is one of the only strong points of this game, I love it (I never really liked the original raid mode )
Of course, each to their own but what is it that you think makes it 'strong'?
- The Raid 2.0 is very arcade.
I'd probably agree with you with regard to the Campaign, which I like a lot more then I do Raid right now. A hell of a lot more.
Yes, you are hunting down a set number of enemies, and yes there are aspects of it which have carried over, but the fact it is blatantly now a mash-up of Mercenaries (lame music being one of the more obvious recycled parts).
The look of it though, the cringe worthy death sounds and approach is really poor. Then you have a terribly bland arsenal, which was part of the fun with the first, playing for those uber rare weapons and indeed parts.
The original Raid was quite simple, in so much the menu was easy to navigate; weapons, parts and characters were easy to switch. The online mode, quick and easy to jump into a game. While the online part of 2.0 isn't yet active, I can't see it being anywhere as easy to quickly change during a online game. Unless they implement a option similar to the first where you have quick access to the store (etc) to avoid having to return to the main room after each run.
Then there is the COD type vibe this new raid emits, which I don't know makes it feel even more tacky.
For me the first was far more refined and while buggy, a lot less restrictive and very addictive.
- Maybe over time, I'll grow to like it more then what I do now but it's unlikely I've have this kind of commitment:
