Saw the trailer last night and yes I also felt like I literally saw a day by day breakdown of the entire film. Ringu was okay but Gore Verninski's remake is one of my favorite thriller's and along with Coen Bros True Grit and the new Pete's Dragon is among the very best remakes of the 21st century. I loved how ominous "Day 1, 2, 3" etc., was in that film and how you had no idea what horrors each new day would bring. I feel like with Rings I already know, am already not impressed, and have no intention of seeing it.

Randomly enough I had the option to be a featured extra in Ring 2 but passed because they asked me to cover my brand new car in filth and I just didn't want to take the time off of work to do it. I always kind of regret having passed on an opportunity to be on location with Naomi though. Still haven't seen that one as I heard it was utterly terrible.

Studios need to relearn how to tease people with trailers. I can't remember the last trailer I saw that left me wondering what was going to happen in a movie.

the second movie is really bad. i saw it once in theaters and hated it so much i never bothered to check it again

Loved the first one. Second was meh. CGI deer uggg.

Being a VHS tape and only a handful of people watching it made it interesting. This has it on YouTube and makes it feel less.

the plane scene makes no sense because those people are watching the video while they are going to die immediately after watching

The claustrophobic "she's just coming for you alone" vibe of the first film was one of the great things that made it so scary.
Turning Samara into "Enchantress on a Plane" is dumb, but whatever. I'm sure this new one will appeal to the Final Destination crowd and from what I hear it can't be worse than the second one.

I wonder if they'll say that someone on the plane watched the video 7 days earlier and it was their time to die. So Samara came out of every TV on the plane to get the one person and damaged the plane, killing everyone else as a result. The problem is that that type of escalation takes things to comedic levels which works in something like Gremlins 2, not so much a traditional horror film.

That said, this seems like it will be like the Paranormal Activity sequels... just more of the same $h1t.
