FOTR is the right call if they can complete the Fellowship. I couldn't see myself investing that kind of money (or shelf space!) into it, but just imagine how choice they'd all look together.

If they're not gonna do Boromir, Merry, and Pippin (who feel the least likely) then I might've preferred TT... although I prefer the look of Gandalf the Grey personally, so I'm not upset either way.
I'm skipping Legolas because I am happy enough with the Asmus one. However I hope they do Frodo and Gimli (because I think the Asmus Frodo looks bad and I missed out on Gimli). Passed that, I'd pick up the rest of the Fellowship if they did them, but it's not critical.

Asmus doesn’t come close to INART 😆 the price difference is absolutely worth it, imo lol
I'll disagree - still feels like folks are glassy eyed over sculpts; and maybe some accessories; but ASMUS and other companies are equal or better in cloth quality and some finishing details.

Or; at least, what I really paid for was a sculpt I had to spend days on, some nice vambraces, and some nice accessories. He's fine but while I might order more InArt not enthused about it, since their customer service doesn't seem to be "premium" - or what I think of as premium either; and neither is their QC. Pretty sure fans pointed out the tunic length issue and that was ignored. Besides the HP peg issue. What is the good of a figure if you can't work with it, although so far Aragorn seems solid.

I don't feel the figure InArt produced is worth $550. I do feel the figure Asmus produced was worth $225. I think the likeness on the Helm's Deep version is one of their better efforts and pretty strong, I like that it comes with the armor and a bunch of arrows. I think the InArt version is missing some accessories it should have, and I worry about quality control issues that have been plaguing their releases so far.

It's great that you think it's worth it and I hope you enjoy yours, but I don't think it's a purchase I need to make, and it seems like there's been a number of people in that same boat.

I own the Asmus Legolas. I like it.

But it looks pretty rough standing next to my InArt Gandalf and Aragorn.
Do you have the original or the Helm's Deep version?

While the Aragorn and Gandalf figures are clearly better all around, I really don't think my Helm's Deep Legolas (as well as Gandalf the White, Gimli, Theoden and Holm Bilbo) looks out of place next to them. Eomer and Elrond got pushed to the back of the shelf, sure, but there are a few Asmus figures that hold up nicely. I think that new Thranduil might be one that ends up looking like it belongs as well.

That’s OSK’s price. It’s $490 from INART. I’m not even getting Legolas.

👍🏼 we’ll see.

I expect INART rooted figures to be +/- $500 and don’t really have an issue with it. Great price-to-value for what they are, imo.

As I said above, I hope you enjoy yours. $500 is just where I'm drawing on the line on what I'm willing to pay for a really nice doll that goes in a glass case. Will I go over that amount by a few bucks, sure. Not $50. I just don't think it's worth it at that price and I'm more than happy with stick with my Asmus figure and put that $500 towards a weekend away somewhere.

As I mentioned before, I’m not even getting Legolas lol. Just saying in general.

The money that is being used for this hobby shouldn’t even be pulled from the same pool for vacations, imo.

These are rooted mass-produced products. The fact that they’re at/around $500 is great. Typically, it’d be more for a root job. On top of that, the higher quality and premium feel makes it. The realism, etc. My Hot Toys (even the best ones) just don’t compare and certainly not Asmus or Threezero, imo.

I literally just took a picture of Gandalf next to mine, and he really makes Legolas look like a doll 🙈😂 I still love the Legolas, one of Asmus best. But I do have InArts on order and plan to test adding the armour on.

I feel like both things are true: InArt is a better figure, but Asmus is a better value per dollar.

In any case, I'm just tricking myself psychologically; with the NRD paid on OSK, Legolas will "only" be a $480 figure when it releases. Girl math!

I have the Helm's Deep version. I think it's a really good figure on its own, but the natural proportions and likenesses of the InArt figures make it look more like a toy when it's next to them.

Imo the real "issue" with Asmus figures is that apart from Crown Gandalf The White, Gimli and Theoden, who undoubtedly are extremely good and realistic, all the other ones just look like... toys/dolls, compared to InArt Aragorn and Gandalf The Grey.

Well, speaking as someone with 1 pool of money that gets budgeted out - or doesn't everyone start that way?

Like many, I've already been priced out as a collector - e.g. that started more with WETA statues than anything, then the money creep hit HT e.g. figs went from the 200s to the 300s and beyond. I won't be surprised if ASMUS as well is forced to raise prices. Labor, materials, shipping has all gone up.

While I'll splurge occasionally - and a number of folks are very happy with InArt - if you are charging diecast Iron Man DX prices you need to deliver, past expensive packaging and a rooted sculpt that may or may not come out of the box with issues. You need to care about every single detail of that costume, not just stuff you find interesting like weapons that get a premium treatment while you sneak in cheap pegs and cheap cloth. E.g. IMO Aragorn doesn't have any more of a premium feel than ASMUS or other companies. The cut and cloth on my new Obi-Wan is amazing (except the boots) and HT has been knocking it out of the park with its SW line lately. Beautiful sculpted hair, too.

Because, with InArt, 2 figs are gonna be ~1,000$ investment; and that's enough to make me pull up and think, hard 😱 . And I'm thinking hard this Legolas is a pass; the sculpt is off; InArt is a gamble with hair work; and they are cutting corners in the costuming department. Like I'm waiting on the Ranger cloak I spent extra on.
