Twin Peaks is a big part of my marriage. We have gone to events near and far to meet the cast and those involved.
this one hurts.

Between 1990 and now, dozens of cast members from the original all the way to The Return have passed away, making any more installments more and more unlikely. But I always figured if Lynch and MacLachlan at least were still around, there's always a chance at something. Now it really and truly is over.

This was a gut punch for me. Like Otomofan, I somehow always felt like Lynch would be around making more films and shows. He was a genius, and made some of the most interesting and memorable work that I've seen. It's very rare to find someone with the guts to tell the stories he did, and to have the freedom to do it. After Dune he worked with pure integrity and that alone is a legacy that he should have been proud of.

I only saw Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive and the Return of his work. Mostly weird, occasionally genius.

Other than Twin Peaks, my favorite pieces of his work are two individual scenes, not actual movies.

The "Mystery Man" scene from Lost Highway, and the "Winkie's Diner" scene from Mulholland Dr.

If you've never really watched his stuff, just take a few minutes to watch one or both of these short scenes today to mark his passing and get a glimpse into his madness/genius.

The man mad some truly memorable movies. Very sad to hear the news.

This one hit me pretty hard, on-par with Lucas or Spielberg going - didn't hear about his diagnosis last year. One of the most unique talents film ever produced, a real testament to how far film can be pushed, never sold out the way people like Tim Burton did, and a true character in real life. Recently re-watched Blue Velvet after way too many years and it still held up so hauntingly, eerily well. His tale of being courted by GL to direct ROTJ is still one of the funniest things I've ever heard, up there with Eddie Murphy and Prince's hubcap.
