I too was under the impression he'd already departed.

There was a pretty groovy monster docu. on netflix a while ago that paid great tribute to his multitude of work in the industry.

Another childhood hero shuffles off his mortal coil and takes to the heavens. The deaths of my favorite Rays (Harryhausen and Bradbury) within a year of each other makes me feel very old.

R.I.P., Magic Man.

It appears I'm not the only one who thought he wa already dead. Grew up watching so many of his creations on screen. Rest in peace Mr H.

RIP Mr. Harryhausen...

I always liked the tribute George Lucas paid him in Attack of the Clones, classy move Mr. Lucas.

His Medusa will always be one of the most frightening creatures I've ever witnessed on the big screen. R.I.P.

This is sad news indeed. He was the "master of stop-motion animation."

Grew up watching his movies such as Mighty Joe Young, The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, Clash of the Titans and my favorite, Jason and the Argonauts.

My three biggest influences as a kid in the '70s were comic books, Godzilla and Ray's monster movies.

RIP :(
