Re: robbiethepainter Photos

Thanks guys.

kara- Its a highly sophisticated lighting rig. Four desk lamps.

This is an old picture but you can see what I have. Depending on the picture, I may unscrew 1,2 or 3 bulbs.

Re: robbiethepainter Photos

LOL Thanks. So I guess the key is just more light. Photography is one thing I could easily improve on but have been too lazy to really focus on. I've got a nice camera, but without good lighting it doesn't matter all that much.

Re: robbiethepainter Photos

I feel lighting can be anything available. Understanding how it works and how it sculpts the body is the important part. I am scenographer in theatre which means I have studied Light, Set, and Costume design. I have a lot of experience in lighting the human form so I have a good handle on what I am trying to achieve and how to get it. My theatre lighting has a tendency to be very high in contrast with minimal use of instruments, which is a contrast to the more trendy direction of moving and intelligent lighting. Im also not very intuitive when it comes to lighting, so I move stuff around a lot till I find the look I have in my head. Its clumsy way of approaching things, but I feel I have more control and can find the subtleties easier. This all then translates to my pictures.

The Maximus picture is sublime.

The pose, lighting and angle of the image, tell the story.
