So I’m guessing this is good? Cause I got tricked into watching that movie long legs after people hyped it up and was bored to tears. Seeing lots of praise for this movie .
Yeah this one is good. I didn't see longlegs but I also saw how it got hyped up only to have a weak third act. Nick cage is great a hear but I saw a scene of him driving and doing a psycho rant and couldn't help but chuckle because it was just Nick Cage doing his thing. Lol

The demon that possesses Orlok’s corpse is the all powerful evil force, not Orlok’s body. Orlok is merely the physical vessel the demon is inhabiting. It’s rotting and not in great shape, but it functions well enough to get things done. I believe (but could be mistaken) it was trying to transfer from Orlok to Ellen before the sun came up but didn’t manage that in time. Certainly a slightly different take on the typical vampire angle. So no, Orlok isn’t meant to look like the all powerful evil force. The shadows might be more it’s true form.
Hmmmmm

I don’t recall any of the demon mythology being mentioned. If it was I assume it was by William Defoe, who I had trouble understanding lol

I think you misinterpreted the end.
Saw Interesting post on FB about Orlok's look in the film. "To those complaining about the vampire's mustache and hair style in Nosferatu : The warrior lords of ancient Slavic Eastern Europe were the Cossacks, famous for their distinctive hairstyle/mustaches and acumen in battle. This was the inspiration for Count Orlock's most recent design" View attachment 747640

I get why the change was made. Im just not sure the change should have been made.

I’m really curious to see how I feel about it with a 2nd viewing. I really didn’t care for it with my first but could see possibly coming around to it

As of now I just felt it was too much “been here, done that”

If you are going to retell the story of Nosferatu then you really need something to stand it apart from the original Dracula. The original Nosferatu did that with a scary as **** looking vampire. This film really just made a Dracula but as an old man that never got young and had a scary voice. The voice IMO actually started to sound a bit comedic as I found he talked to much lol

The film just did not speak to me as it did others. I was not enamored with the way it was shot like so many have said . I think I originally said it was but the more I see and the more I think it felt more like an homage to the original and FFC Bram Stokers Dracula

I’m not ready to dump on it yet. The Witch took me a 2nd watch to really fall in love with that film. Though I will say that I liked it more with my first watch than I did this one.

I hated the Lighthouse. Ugh!

I mostly now understand why Eddgers went with the Cossacks look and how Orlok looked. He is a huge nerd in terms of Folklore and old stories (which I am at times also) so I get going the route he did because he wanted it to be that way. Though I can also agree it wasn't what I was expecting though I'm with you. A second viewing will be better, and I'll love it more if I do watch it again, also Interesting enough Eddgers was at one point going to do a Frankenstein movie but it never happened. I'm very curious on how that would have looked as his style is very much based on old world Gothic horror and folklore.

Having sat with it a few days now, I think less and less of the film. There is nothing memorable or unique - very much like Jaws said; being there done that.

The acting feels like a one-note flatline. The only two great performances were Dafoe's offsider doctor that recommended him, and Orlok's minion.

The Witch and The Northman I felt are far superior in every way.

It's really crazy how wildly different people's perceptions of this film are. I thought basically everyone was great in it, but LRD carried the movie. I find her incredibly compelling. Eggers took a simple story and gave it a stronger psychological element, which I found really fascinating.

I like Longlegs

It was highly overrated but I liked it.

2nd viewing was better and watching YouTubers dissecting it makes it fun for repeat viewings.

I can see how someone would not like it though.

At least it was better than Revenge of the Sith

😜😂😂

Yes the moment he started banging his head on the desk I thought it was absolute cinema 😂
