Casting Brody does seem like a move that indicates it won't be just an action movie, but something special. Getting a bit more hopeful...

I just hope they don't make the whole movie about "feeling attached" to the human characters, that they neglect the Predator aspect of it all

I agree with some others here, I think the casting of someone like Brody is a step in the right direction. Beginning to look forward to this now!

I have no problems with Brody as an actor, I though he
was great in Summer of Sam.
But I really cant see him in a Predator movie, just seem's
to pissweak for that kind of roll. And if he just so happens
to kill these super preds, then what is that saying about
the predator species???

exactly. I know they'll say don't judge a book by it's cover, but it's gonna suck that Brody will probably outwit the Pred's at the end. That's one of the things I love about the original Pred, Arnold sort of beat him by luck.

some felt the same way about Ledger as the Joker and look how that turned out. I'm more nervous about the quality of the costumes/makeup. Does anyone know the budget for the movie? Plus he's filming it in Hi and Tx?!?

I'm a little more than halfway there for Brody and Topher Grace.
P1 and 2 aren't exactly shoot em up films. There are elements of suspense, sci-fi, and mystery so that you need someone that has more going for them than roids to cover those bases when the gunfire and running stop.

They do seem a bit 'wimpy', understandably, but given the context they don't have to be muscle monsters nor whiny pansies. They can just be relatively average joes and it can be used to press the suspense and sense of vulnerability if done right. I think they're both pretty solid actors. Brody is a believable hero and has done so before and I think Topher Grace can be really creepy if the directing and writing tried to bring that out. (Topher made a pretty terrible venom but would have made an excellent Carnage imo).

Also, Ripley was a woman, not at all imposing physically but she took out hundreds and hundreds, perhaps thousands of the Predator's supposed biological enemy. If a physically average woman can pull off a Bug genocide in less than two hours so can Brody. Nothing wrong with having Topher be evil either...

...there's no reason someone unassuming can't be menacing. Betsy Palmer will play the killer in probably one of the most well known horror films of all time? Getouttaaheeee

The latest installment of Predators, which is being executive-produced by Robert Rodriguez, casts Brody as a mercenary hired to fight monsters, something fans are having a hard time imagining given that Arnold Schwarznegger starred in the original 1987 Predator.

Schwarznegger he certainly isn't but Brody and his representatives actively pursued the role, according to reports.

Variety is reporting that Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, Walt Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, and Louiz Ozawa will join Brody in the cast of the new film.

The movie will take place on a jungle planet on which a crew of Earth's worst criminals and killers are hunted down for sport.

It is also reported Topher Grace is in negotiations to star as the unassuming serial killer in the bunch.

The cast and crew are said to start filming in Hawaii soon with a planned release date for July 9, 2010.




You got to be kidding me? "Con Air" meets "Predator"? Sounds horrible. Typical Rodriguez pulp. Surprised Rose McGowan isn't in this with her machine gun-leg. Why not at this point?

All the guys in the original movie looked like they could have more or less stood a chance if the Preadator had given them one, in hand to hand. No offence I just don't see Adrian Brody or Tohper Grace vs a Predator let alone these rumored Super Predators. It has nothing to do with acting.

they looked like it sure, but when it came down to the actual action Arnie never stood a chance. None of the crew stood a chance, whether or armed or unarmed, buff, scrawny or female. The Predator even taunted Arnie by removing all of his gear, proving the futility of Arnold's muscle. He needed intelligence, i.e. booby traps, use of camouflage, feints, and survival tactics. Danny Glover had home advantage, advanced technology and a final battle that really came down to who can stick the other guy first which is a battle of flinching and speed, not brawn. You'd only be sticking with the roots of the series if the lead required cunning rather than physical strength to beat a Predator. Other than that, the muscles would only be for show until an invisible Predator comes along and rips it off, just like in P1.

BTW if the lead were a woman would you still have the same issue?
There's no reason some scrawny dude can't take on some Super Predators if a scrawny woman can take on an Alien Queen and her entire army. It also helps that he's a good actor.

OMG that cast s u c k s bigtime, a former " the shield" actor, a freeking russian wannabe actor

the only one i would enjoy to see playing in predators is DANNY TREJO
