Yes, and no matter how you feel about the movie the flashback scenes in AVP were pretty cool, albeit brief scenes.

Man, I don't even remember flash backs in AVP.

Some back story would have been great. I mean they spent all this time developing the team character to rush it after Noland. Yeah, maybe extended version down the line.

They were visually interesting, but when they suggested the Preds are responsible for human civilization...:cuckoo:

I just liked them for the fight scenes and when the Ancient Pred ripped the alien head off on his spear. So I guess maybe 3 seconds of the flashback scenes were cool now that I think about it. :rotfl

This is over nitpicking. If you watch P1, the predator uncloaked NOT using his wrist comp either, when he jumped the tree and made his first visible appearance, with Dillon looking at him confused as hell.

Um.. no. P1 doesn't "uncloak" in that shot. I guess you could call it a system malfunction because when he becomes visible you see blue sparks like this:

And he's only visible for a split second. The only other time that happens is after P1 exits the water:

And when Arnie shoots it near the end (with the arrow that explodes).

Every other time the P1 fully uncloaks AND does so on purpose, he uses his wrist computer and the effect is smooth i.e. no blue sparks. Watch the scene where P1 does self-surgery on the tree. He uses his wrist computer, uncloaks and there's no blue sparks.

Those sparks indicate a malfunction. You can see here:

Does it really matter? It's a 2 second scene...it looked cool. That's all it needed to do....:dunno

I was ok with it. It's pretty much a P1 echo.
I guess it's my second favorite Pred movie, but only because I like the direct P1 sequel angle, and the refs to the first one. Plus, it has to stand up against P2's period karma, ie, KPH and just the plain movie period vibe that P2 had. Still, I liked it ok. I will say this, I left with NO feeling of any must have status regarding figures. Maybe the NECA ones, but I feel no need for high end HT ones. I hate not feeling that pull, but I just didn't. The ones I liked most bought farm way too fast. Sucks.

Not a bad movie though. Way better than either AVP to me for sure.

As for the cloaking thing, I haven't seen it yet (I will at 8 tonight!) I saw him uncloak while holding some type of weapon - is it possible that the computer device was part of the gun he was holding?

just saw it ....... i liked it
its not super good ....but still its good!
really like the beserkers design (with helmit on)
still like very much the classic predators face.

I still think the action AVP 1 was better. They had some cool weapons in that too. The rest sucked ass tho

I forgot to mention how busy it was in the movie theater I was in, and have noticed that a lot of other people said their movie theaters were pretty busy too. I think this film is going to do some good business, so a sequel might be in the offing.

That being said, I am still waiting for Sin City 2, Rodriguez

Sin City 2 is gonna ROCK! Can't believe he wants to do Spy Kids 4 first, though. :(

I went this afternoon, loved it but felt everything after they met Nolan seemed a little rushed. Nothing horrible but would of liked to of seen a bit more predator hunting.

While I was in line for a ticket some 14 year olds wanted to come in with me to get past the R rating, I told them no and that I didn't want kids crying while I watched Predators!

What part of discuss Predators do you people not get, no more gossipping and criticizing other members or any of the crap, this is your final shot, shut up or the thread's closed for good.

Noland's gun is pretty cool. It looks like he got it off another species of Alien. It would be cool for the sequel to have a team of humans and new species of Aliens we have not seen before, fighting against the Preds. I would just hope that the design team would be on their A game

That's certainly be a fresh idea to bring to the table. While there's novelty to the AVP concept because of the popularity each creature gained in their solo series', there's room to think up some new race that can be more plausibly blended with the Predator species to make for interesting movies.

The franchise needs more out of the box thinking, willing to explore new things for the sake of good storytelling and not being slave to the fandom, if you make something good, the fans will be happy no matter what you do, it's only when you make something poor and change their beloved things that they get pissed.
