Why cant they make a good movie like Predator 1? Because the world has changed. People demand realism, and PG-13 horror movies.

The 80's is gone, but I love that a few people have kept up that feeling. Very few...but it's there.

Predator was the perfect mix of all the right people, at the same time. In a time where films were all about fun, and not politics. Hell, I heard theres even a huge refrence to Iraq in Prince of Persia...

Um.. no. P1 doesn't "uncloak" in that shot. I guess you could call it a system malfunction because when he becomes visible you see blue sparks like this:

And he's only visible for a split second. The only other time that happens is after P1 exits the water:

And when Arnie shoots it near the end (with the arrow that explodes).

Every other time the P1 fully uncloaks AND does so on purpose, he uses his wrist computer and the effect is smooth i.e. no blue sparks. Watch the scene where P1 does self-surgery on the tree. He uses his wrist computer, uncloaks and there's no blue sparks.

Those sparks indicate a malfunction. You can see here:

Well I guess Nolands cloak malfunctioned then too because there were blue sparks... Im not sure if P1´s cloak malfunctioned at that point though. Always thought he uncloaked himself for some reason.

And in P2 you can clearly see the predator uncloaking without using his wristcomp, when he takes out those King Willie boys up in that building.

Didn't mind as much, because these Preds are a new clan with new tech and stuff. Ford doesn't sound like a Mercedes

Yeah it was an enjoyable but forgettable film. The major problem was it felt like a fan made project, mimicking the original in too many instances and falling well short as a result of the AVOIDABLE comparison. With the exception of the Jewish bint, the Russion and the Death Row redneck, the others had cardboard thin personalities. Noland was an opportunity missed and the 'twist' reveal of the Doctor was like meh who cares. I'm not going to go into the 'What if' this and that, but the producers nearly had it but it just fell apart in their hands.
The problem with the likes of Predator, the Aliens, Terminator, Freddy...basically any iconic character you care to mention who has that visual mistique about them, by a third and even fourth film, the allure, wow factor etc is gone. We know what they look like, we've seen what they do...it becomes very old very quick and no amount of rebooting can bring back the initial thrill of seeing these guys for the first time.

I feel this film IMO refreshed the Predator franchise, after two shocking AVP excuses for Films

It was good. But after watching twice, it wasnt great. But I felt it did show a good Predator IS possible....but it'll be a little longer before we get it.

It was almost great, but didnt reach that at times. I wouldnt mind Antel back at all. He gave the movie a great sense of scope.

I just saw it at Midnight and while I feel they tried to copy Predator too much at the end. I enjoyed the new look of all the Preds... Have to say my favorit part was the sword fight... So how big will Hottoys makes these guys you think... Cause they tower over a normal size smaller Predator so Id say at least 15 to 16 inchs right???

I'd have to watch it again to be sure, but im not sure they "tower" over the classic Predator. Maybe a bit taller but not massive in comparison

Thing is I never got that sense of scale at all. They were played by 6'5" actors and it showed.

In any case these so called "super predators" were a super disappointment. What kind of super predator loses to humans? Really?

And I'm not so sure Classic would have lost had he been 100%. Don't forget he was tied to that totum so he must have been weak and dehydrated. Hell we don't know how long he'd been strung up like that for...

The super predators did not convince me they were any better than traditional predators. Fail there Rodriguez. Still I enjoyed it.

Oh don't get me wrong, the Preds looked great. I preferred the Berserker Pred masked, and classic looked great unmasked.
Flusher (The one with the Tusks if I got the name wrong) looked great too. I did not like Falconer though, he looked a bit like a bobble head Predator to me, plus his fighting skills sucked
