Hmm, but do they laugh at the actual Peter Weller-worn costume or do they show something that is not the same but is more obviously inspired by that costume than the final suit in the new film?

According to CBG19, they do laugh at the actual classic suit, but she doesn't know if that scene will make it into the movie, it was just part of a supposedly leaked script.

So ironic considering no one in reality is laughing at the Weller suit and almost everyone is laughing at the new GI_JOE suit. :lol

In fact the clips from the original film in that video you posted inspired sheer awe at how amazing the Weller suit looks. In combination with the mechanical hum, other sound effects and Weller's movement - just amazing. You really do feel that this is an actual cyborg.

:exactly: The mere footsteps in the original inspire terror :lol

Even with all the CGI, the original still makes the new one look like crap with it's practical FX.

As Khev was saying earlier, the suit, Detroit and the whole feel of the film are still completely relevant today. There was no need to "remake" this. Hell, they could've just cleaned it up, added in the extra footage (which by today's ratings would only be R), maybe cleaned up the Jones fall at the end and given it a theatrical release uncut.

All I see with those pictures is a bare whacking hand!

dsfsddsvvsavsvv!!!

I bet his cod piece comes out the same way the release for his sidefire does. Gawb Dammit!

*vert vert, woosh... *** *** ****

It edited out, rhymes with tap.

This would've been a better idea for a remake.

Cool. :)

I can't stand those sleeve motifs generally - let alone on women.

That's me though.. :wink1:

The only tat on a girl that I like is a small wing over the butt crack.

:lol

Before I saw this video I was planning on probably catching the new movie at a matinee sometime, just for the heck of it. However if it's really true that there is a scene where:

Keaton and the powers that be are looking at various designs for the new Robosuit and at one point someone shows them an illustration of the 1987 costume and they laugh it off as looking like a cheap 80's toy

...then I will skip it on principle and either rent it later or wait until its free on TV. I know that a personal boycott won't cater to anything other than my own satisfaction but it will be worth it.

Wait, wut.

It really seemed like it could have been a no-brainer. Studios are making bank by re-releasing hits of previous decades. Jurassic Park, Titanic, Beauty and the Beast, Monster's Inc. I know those all got 3D upgrades but they still had 2D showings in most theaters.

They could have even pulled a "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and just released the 1987 version no frills in all its 2D glory.

I'm guessing they were hoping for a Batman Begins/TDK-esque blockbuster reboot of an old character but if they really thought they had a hit on their hands this would be a midsummer release, not spring. Should have just treated new audiences to the original masterpiece on the big screen.

Still looking forward to this movie, but I'll just wait until it hits HBO or Cinemax. :lol

Yeah. I'll watch this, hell I sat through RoboCop 3. I'm just totally content to see it late 2014 instead of early 2014. I may even pay a few bucks to watch in On Demand to give it the straight-to-video status it deserves. :lol
