while the 1st movie had some deeper themes to it, there was definitely a comedic/cynical slant to it.
the over-the-top violence. the hilarious ads/newscasts... Verhoven is a notorious smart-ass.
and there's no way you didn't laugh when Emil got melted and splattered on Clarence's car.

Robo 2 had good moments, and the fight with Cain was great..but overall it left a bad taste in my mouth - even when I was a child who should have been so in awe of the robot effects that any flaws went over my head (and not being allowed to watch it I might add!) I still didn't really like it, not like the first one.

Yep, you're right. I guess it's been a really long time since I've watched it. You'd think I'd remember more of that having seen it about 100 times. It was a very serious movie, but had an amusing bent humor all the way through. Added that to the list of movies needing viewing again.

And 2 is awesome.

Robocop 3 is a completely ^^^^ty movie... nothing worth a damn in it. To me its best to pretend it never happened.

Didn't really like 2 either, but it was a masterpiece compared to 3.

I guess Im not sure what a fanboy is cuz i thought it was someone that would love the franchise no matter what kind of crap they put out.

Part two didnt look right, The kid sucked, his chick friend sucked, cain sucked, the chick that works on robo in the station sucked (I think I have seen her in some Canadian TV shows), even peter weller sucked, robo's look away while shooting bad guys poses sucked.

Leaving a bad taste in my mouth is the best way to put it. It just had a goofy cheap feel to it.

Pee Wee vs ED-209! I can't believe you found that video. I totally remember that from my childhood. That rocked so much. The greatest thing I've ever seen at the Oscars EVER. A close second it is the full grown Audrey II singing one of the nominated songs from Little Shop of Horrors.

So I pretty much say I hate two out of three Robocop movies and Im a fanboy.

Why the weak insults? Heres some definitions for you.

Fanboy:

1. A person who is completely loyal to a game or company reguardless of if they suck or not.
2. A pathetic insult often used by fanboys themselves to try and put down people who don't like whatever it is they like.

A scene I despised in Robocop 2 was the ridiculously implausible and OTT (even for a sci-fi film like this) Robocop idol auditions scene with all the prototypes. Giving them loaded weapons after the ED-209 incident in 1, screaming skulls WTF??
