Don't care one way or the other about King, I am only here to comment on the "don't speak ill of the dead" nonsense. Never understood that. If a person was a complete a-hole on Monday, died on Tuesday, are they not still a complete a-hole on Wednesday?

I had a co worker die recently, the guy was a complete idiot. Sure he's dead but that doesn't change the fact that he was an idiot and had been consistently reprimanded for poor job performance.

Does dying suddenly absolve someone of being what they were in life? I don't think so. Its just my opinion, but someone dying has never changed the way I felt about them nor did it ever persuade me from saying it. I've offended more than one person in my life by "speaking ill of the dead", but I have never felt someone dying is suddenly worthy of my respect.

Meh, maybe I'm the a-hole .....feel free to talk bad about me when I die. I promise I won't care.



Anyway, Dave really needs to institute a board policy and stop all these R.I.P./dead celebrity threads. They are unnecessary.

I hate cops as much as the last guy who got his ass kicked by them for nothing, but Rodney King was full of it. That only became a case because it was caught on camera, and that one incendiary clip of film outweighed every last bit of evidence that supported those cops' actions. It was one of the original reality tv seedlings. It was a farce and it revealed how dim the world had become.

July 27 1985 charged with battery of his wife only got probation.

Nov 3 1989 Pleaded a assult with deadly weapon, 2nd degree robbery intent to commint great bodily injury down to robbery 2 years in prison

May 3 1991 Felony evasion due he knew he was driving under the influance, and tested barely under the limit 5 hours later. (this is famous arrest and the beginning of a string of arrests where no one would file charges or prosecute him)

May 11 1991 (yes 8 days later) Got puller over for tinted windows, had both expired DL and expired car registration ( was dropped in reality due to fear of the repercussions )

May 25 (yes we are still less then a month from getting his azz beat) Picked up a tranny prostitute and when cops approached car he sped off nearly hitting a cop and no charges were files (for obviously the same reason charges were dropped)

June 26 1992 Wife called a domestic violence call and king was arrested but wife decided not to press charges

July 16 1992 Arrested for DUI but amazingly again no charges filed

Aug 21 1993 Arrested for DUI (see at pattern yet?) after running into a wall. Had BAC of .19 (way over limit) got only court ordered alcohol treatment.

May 21 1995 Guess what DUI again this one in PA. Failed field test refused blood test and was acquitted.

Sept 29 2001 Arrested for indecent exposure and PCP use

Aug 27 2003 Arrest for running red light and DUI only after he failed to yield and crashed into a house.

March 3 2011 pulled over driving erratically and had expired DL. Was cited and was later convicted of reckless driving.

Honestly I think there are some missing. I remember at least a few other arrests for battery and death threats to his daughter and x girl friend. Lets also no forget he has more then one stint in rehab (two of which he was likely paid for since they were for TV shows)

The fact that he is dead or alive doesnt change the fact he was a POS.


____ if i getting my azz beat by cops gets me 3.8 million a complete get of jail free card, semi celebrity status , the abilty to get paid for rehab stints sign me up.

Although I do not feel that outlawing RIP threads should be banned any more than political or religious ones should be, I do have to say that Ima have to look for the tragedy in this one because it is not plainly apparent to me. Personally, I'm not seeing the benefit that this man's life had to the planet, or even to his community.


He may very well have redeemed himself with good deeds. But if he did...I haven't heard of them.


Also, I liked the line in the news article I read that stated that
he "left Los Angeles behind him" because he moved to Rialto.

Seriously? Rialto isn't far enough removed from L.A. (geographically or demographically) to be any kind of a change.
