I think the most you'll see from DB is a Kid Goku. While from GT you'd likely get SSJ4 Goku & Vegeta and MAYYYBE a Kid Goku GT if we're lucky. The Tamashii Buddies line has a kid DB Goku and SSJ4 Goku in it. I've been collecting Dragon Ball Gashopon as well and GT is quite prominent...more so than original Dragon Ball characters.

But Tamashii has already said there will be a focus on the Buu Saga since Kai will start showing that in Japan soon. So it makes sense to release characters that coincide with what's going on in the TV show...this is smart marketing that I think Japan sometimes struggles with since they don't tend to coordinate well. Most American companies make sure the cartoon/movie toy products coincide with the current cartoon TV shows and movies. Oh well...

Assuming we'll get no rereleases
besides manga gohan if at all
I think Majin/Buu era Vegeta, a gohan that doesn't need an adult anymore, kid buu, tall Trunks and Tien are the five with the highest fanbase priority. Fine if we cling Yamcha on at the end of that. With Vegito between brackets, those 7 should be the line up for the next 1,5/2 years.

Everyone would have Veggie, everyone would have an Underpants, main villains complete, main z fighters complete, boom. I wanna add Nappa and Raditz, but honestly, at the end then. Oh and an sdcc repaint of ssj3 goku.

By then we might finally get a proper regular Goku which would be a logical release after Raditz... No movie characters anymore, you ****ing Brolobbiests got your fix, no main characters - good or bad - lacking in availability anymore. Swiftly complete a main representation of the series that covers all eras.

We'll have all major bases covered with this. All climactic end fight characters. I dare anyone to challenge that this is what on average the demand entails, and what should be done.

Well... The argument against it is that while we hear so much complaining about vegeta and trunks, fact of the matter is vegeta has had 3 releases and trunks has both saiyan and non saiyan already out there. People that have supported the line from the get go (mostly by virtue of luck knowing about it sooner than others) would rather get some new characters, like another version of Cell/frieza or goten/kid trunks/gotenks, or ginyu force or maybe master roshi, one of the kai's or bulma. You're saying that almost half of the releases coming in the next two years should be to satisfy people who missed out. I'm not personally arguing against those releases, but playing devil's advocate to say those who have been supporting the line longer and have trunks/vegeta/gohan should be rewarded with more new characters.

Did some more searching around about the new datong scouter vegeta and found this:
Dragon Ball Z Kai S H Figuart Black Hair Battleframe Vegeta SHF Action Figure,Dragon Ball Model Figure Free shipping on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

Looking at these pics compared to the official release pics, I think the one shown here is the datong version. You can see the armor flaps over his legs are missing the black detailing between the yellow and white. His face also looks slightly different. It looks like he is missing the lines outside of his eyebrows and there appears to be no shading on the face. Looks like they painted his boot tips this time around too.

Yep, I think this is our first look at the new Datong Vegeta!

It's kinda scary how good that looks. I imagine this is gonna sell quite well.

The question is... how sturdy are the hips. There's a degradation in the SS Datong Vegeta... the bandai scouter has piss poor hips as is... if this is any worse, he'll never stand without help.

I still want DBGT figs :(

Ditto.

I also enjoy the SSJ4 design, and I would enjoy figures of Goku, Vegeta, and Gogeta in SSJ4. Other figures I'd like would be Pan and the robot thing, Omega Shenron, and Super C17.

I think GT is an okay side story that has no purpose

All of the above but I'd also like to get the three stages of Baby Vegeta and Kid Goku. I'm tempted to buy another Android 17 and find a jacket to put on him.

I enjoy GT mostly for the SSJ4 design. It seemed like a true Saiyan form to me. Monkey-like, black hair.
Thus why I hunt for SSJ4 stuff so much.

I like to think of it as an alternate timeline. Much like future Trunks' timeline. Soothes my heart to think so. I hated the SSJG to be honest. Just make a nicer, glowier Kaio-ken mode. I don't FEEL the God mode. I didn't get that awe feeling I had the first time Goku turned SSJ or SSJ3.

Agreed! I like all Super Saiyan designs but I'd like to think Super Saiyan 4 is the true final form of a Super Saiyan. It represents what a Saiyan's potential truly is through the design and pretty much bypasses the purpose of Super Saiyan 2 and 3.

Super Saiyan God was "meh" to me. It was an enjoyable story but I didn't see the purpose of six pure-hearted Saiyans other than to involve everybody. Plus, was Goku's transformation as the Super Saiyan God only that strong because he had absorbed all the power of the pure-hearted Saians? It would have been more interesting on the back story behind the first Super Saiyan God. Who were the six pure-hearted Saiyans? How did they become that way? Was he as strong as Goku's Super Saiyan God? Stuff like that.

...I actually like that a lot. Looks very familiar to this...

I'll be buying quite a few.

It's to my knowledge that Z is the most popular, so if they want to be smart they will release any DB and GT figure outside of the Z line so they don't loose money on them

I feel they should have a trial release. Release Super Saiyan 4 Goku in another line and see how well it sells and then take it from there.

Somebody at Bluefin must be a fan of Super Saiyan 4 Goku because he shows up quite a bit in polls.

I agree about the first sentence but I strongly disagree with the rest. If Thee who shall not be named, with you, sells well, that should open the door for future releases of Movie characters. Even if I would rather have specific characters from the series eras before. There's potential demand there and I doubt they're far behind the top 3 - 5 highest fan base priorities.

This is an interesting comment I found on another forum...

"If you guys scan the QR code that comes with any figuarts product, it will direct you to a similar survey made by tamashii itself. You can there choose all the DBZ characters you want"

Has anybody tried that?

@Surl

Uh okay 1. Trunks had one release, fact, period. 2. I have trunks, I still want tall trunks and he's in the top five in every poll I've seen so far that he was on(discounting characters we've had since). I will say that if he gets a rerelease it's a wholly different matter, agreed, but I said I assumed that wouldnt be the case. 3 (or kinda 2.2) Many people who have trunks and vegteta still want those specific releases of him. 4 I;ve said this over, and over, and over again, and it's just ****ing true: people will not climb aboard if they can't have the main favorite characters. What's the point of buying nappa if you don't have a vegeta let alone the correct outfit? Etc. 5 Tamashii will do what sells, which is itself good for the line.

(Ftr no problems with devil's advocate criticism mate!)

@Ang Uh if you agree with the first sentence you agree with the essence of the entire post kindof...

But... if you're gonna claim there's movie characters more popular than what I listed I think you're wrong. The only ones with a shot are cooler, tall trunks potentially IS a movie release btw, and Gogeta which is already highly unlikely since we're getting vegito, and he was also outvoted by him.

Kid buu? Majin Vegeta? Nappa? Tien? Adult Gohan? Yamcha? Raditz? Other forms of frieza and cell? Gotenks? Goten-Trunks? Other Buu forms? Other adult gohan forms?
Come on man, you know you're talking folly if you think there's movie characters besides broly that are more popular then them.

DBZ needs to get a main representation of all eras + an availability of the main saiyan heroes consistently, that has priority now I'd say. I never said I NEVER wanted any movie characters from now on, I was talking priority... As in what next? Not 'what ever?'

I'd like to know more on that as well. I've always been curious as to who the original Super Saiyan was(but then we get stuff like that Bardock special which is just a big WTF? moment). Did you know Planet Vegeta, even before they overthrew the Tuffles, wasn't even the "real" original Saiyan homeworld? They're actually from another planet altogether and just landed on Planet Plant one day in a spaceship(s), which is another mystery.

I wish the Dragon Ball Minus manga covered stuff like this. But then again, we might not like what Toriyama gives us (case in point, Gine & the baby-Goku retconning stuff, 6 pure-hearted Saiyans required for SSG "just because," etc.). So it's really a double-edged sword.

I put the specific paragraph in bold by agreeing that Saiyan Saga Goku would be logical after Raditz. The rest of that bold paragraph, I didn't agree with.

Bardock, Janemba, who strangely seems to be quite popular, and Beerus come to mind. I would rank all of them before Gotenks, Adult Gohan, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd forms of Frieza, 1st, although he comes quite close, and 2nd forms of Cell, and Fat Buu in terms of popularity. Although, I would rank Tien, Majin Vegeta, Yamcha, Nappa, Raditz. Goten, and Trunks before the Movie characters I mentioned. I'm going to stand by that, whether people disagree with me.

I definitely agree with you about the priority of what should be next but Tamashii is a wild card to me. I never know what exactly they plan on doing for future releases and it's aggravating.

The original Super Saiyan seems to have been what Goku was in GT; a Golden Oozaru. At least in the stories that I've seen in the series but then Vegeta would always believe he was a Super Saiyan or that Goku was one without any transformation. I actually didn't mind Bardock turning Super Saiyan. It felt right to me. Isn't the only way to become a Super Saiyan through need rather than desire? That's why it took Vegeta so long to become one. Yeah, I knew that about the Saiyans and Planet Vegeta. It's from Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, I believe. I just watched it last month.

I read about Gine and that seemed strange to me. What was the Baby Goku retcon?

Unless I'm incorrect, the baby Goku retcon was that he was awake and aware he was being sent off, he was even clad in little Saiyan armor. I think even Bardock and Gine said "Good-bye" to him before he was sent off. While most of the original manga/anime material depicts him asleep, naked and "alone" (or in a psuedo-nursery with other Saiyan babies) when he was shipped off to conquer Earth.

I look at SSJ4 in a similar way you do...that it was an evolutionary form "before" Saiyans became hairless humans and it was still a blend between human (intelligent and "in-control") and the ape (powerful and strong).

I'm a Brolobbiest. I love the Broly character...the only true evil super saiyan (Turles, Raditz never achieved that form...and well, Vegeta became good) and shows you what could happen if a Saiyan let his true power out without care for his surroundings or others around him.

I do agree that there should be more representations of the main characters from the MAIN story before more movie characters. Given the frequency that these figures are released, a movie character DOES take up a span of time and a "slot" that could belong to characters you mentioned.

However, this debate goes back to Bandai/Tamashii's business priorities lined up against their resources and their selling demographics. Broly is clearly aimed at the Western market since Broly is much more popular here than he is in Japan. And Bandai currently is content releasing one Dragon Ball Figuarts character every 2-3 months (not including re-releases). Even their limited releases in Japan reportedly sell very well. Perhaps Bandai feels if they flooded the market, they wouldn't do so well. Who knows? Dragon Ball is like what "G.I. Joe" and "Transformers: Generation 1" is to us here in the States. Nostalgic and never forgotten but not always a money-maker in certain merchandise. That's why I was making comments that they should re-tell the Dragon Ball Z story and tell it in a new way to a new audience. At least the newer movies are helping with that reintroduction.

But the good side is this: There is no indication that Bandai/Tamashii Nations is cancelling the DBZ Figuarts line. From what I've learned, the line was very close to being canned and actually foreign interest helped boost it up (along with the Power Rangers line) a few years ago. But look at it now, re-releases have helped some newer collectors get a few earlier releases, DBZ has expanded into Figuarts ZERO and headlines the new Figuarts ZERO EX line (Goku is the FIRST character out of Bandai's catalog for that line) and even the Tamashii Buddies line is headlined by Dragon Ball characters BEFORE the Sailor Moon buddies come out later.
