It really sucks that we don't get concrete release dates for these figures. I wouldn't mind waiting if I knew when I was waiting til! I want that scouter vegeta. I think he'll look most dynamic in line with the other figures, I don't know why. Just something about it makes me know it'll be my favorite so far.

Cant believe we missed this, but remember the explosion effect that cam with the ultraman figures that would make for a great aura backdrop? well its now available as a standalone part, problem is that the ebay scalpers are overpricing it by ALOT; if anyone finds it at an online store would you mind linking it? thanks.

This is what I'm talking about for those who may not know:

If the figures are in bubble packing then I keep them there, but boxes you can put them back so no need to keep them in box IMO; no point in buying a figure just to keep it boxed if it doesnt need to be.

What is this item actually called?

Yeah I itch to pose them but I'm also an econ student so I assess value constantly. I mean, I have taken them out three or four times to inspect them, while keeping the boxes mint. But at the same time, I don't want to flex them and have their joints become loose. These things are like little treasures. I've spent an *** load on just two of em'.

I have a question for you guys. How customizable are these figures? I want to customize a Trunks figure to resemble the Broly series Trunks. With longer hair and sleeveless jean jacket. The way I see it if I can swap out the arms for like Goku's arms and sand off the wrist bands I should be ok. But I do know these figures are hallow and molded. would I be able to do that?

They are solid plastic.

But I dunno if it's possible to enlarge the arm parts without doing mods to his other parts like torso, legs etc. it's far too complicated I think.

I don't think it's worth it. Doing a paint custom is definitely possible and I've seen some nice re-paints. But augmenting the mold will prove difficult and you pose the risk of ruining the figure. They're pretty delicate.

The problem there is that Trunks arms are a different joint at the shoulder than Goku, so to me that would be almost impossible to change without destroying one of the figures, which, considering how expensive these things are, wouldnt be worth it imo.

However, if you were to customize a figure I would go with SSJ Vegeta. It's definitely possible to remove the chest armor, and do a custom paint job to give him the appearance of wearing a tank top like in the Buu saga; maybe even throw a "M" on the forehead. You'd have to paint the arms up to the gloves and around the part of neck that is composite to the chest piece; and possibly the entire upper body that is under the armor.

That'd be dope, but he is expensive as ***** unless you have a few but I'd pay to see that.

I dont think there is a body under the armor, more likely the armor IS the body; I have one in my hand now and thats how it looks to me.

Hmm I was inspecting it last night and it seemed that the armor could be somewhat removed by means of a scalpel. But yes, you might be correct Deano, the armor does seem to be a sole layer of the torso. Lol in retrospect, I recommend not ****ing with your figuart, period unless you're seasoned in paint customs. These figures are too costly and should be kept in pristine condition.

Does anyone have a serious recommendation from a serious collector perspective: I have SDCC Goku and first variant Vegeta, which one should I scoop next? I'd like some advice, I'm looking for overall durability and sculpt detail. I also want something that greatly differentiates from previous lines of figures. Online reviews aren't too helpful. I could care less about accessories, although they play a role in future value, so let me have it.

SDCC Gohan may go the way that SDCC goku has gone in terms of price, so you may want to grab him; Trunks and Cell after that. SS3 Goku is only a must if you really want him, as the paint, although accurate, looks strange.

Get Piccolo! Hes the only one that won't get a re release! When we are 15 figures deep, the figure will hit a much higher price tag! Another would be the new Vegeta! I see the SDCC gohan rising aswell.

Thanks for that. I think I'm going to go through Toyarena to get Gohan and while I'm at it I'll grab some stands, that's depending how my gf feels about having me stage toys at our home lol. Call me crazy, but I've heard horror stories about SSJ 3 Goku yet I'm inclined to purchase him, probably used of I can find one. All others I'd like to keep mostly boxed to maintain value. But SSJ 3 Goku needs to go on my desk. I've also noticed a general price rise in SDCC Gohan and Trunks by about 5 and 7 percent, respectively. And that is within a month or so.
