Also cancelled my orders for the 2nd version DaTong SSJ Vegeta's, now that I saw actual pictures of the advanced colors.

Onto some thoughts:

While the Shenron does say For Display Only, I think they're bringing him out to see how people respond to it. I have no doubt people would buy it even if it costs a decent amount (which it obviously will). It's freaking Shenron, the Eternal Dragon. I have no doubt we'll see him officially announced probably later this year or maybe even as early as SDCC.

Vegeta looks okay. Love that we now have Android Saga and Cell Saga Vegeta. The paint job looks duller overall from head to toe AND without the shading. They could've at the very least included crossed arms and detailed the boots, even a little would've gone a long way. So much for Advanced...

Trunks looks practically the same. His body seems painted better with more saturated colors, yet the hair has removed shading, which sucks. Probably haven't seen official pics yet because he might still need some work done. Wonder how the regular form will look. Painted pupils please!?

Goku. Perfect aside from the boots. Could still be corrected though. Otherwise, VERY impressive sculpt and so far the best figure Tamashii's come out with. Hope the hair has shading but I'm not holding my breath.

Edit: After seeing those HD pics, Goku DOES have slight shading and the manga explanation makes sense. You can always swap the boots with the future SDCC Namek Goku too. Vegeta's paint looks to be darker and the hair does have slight shading akin to Goku's. Looks more BoG than anything but can function as Cell Saga too. Trunks has more saturated coloring and looks more vibrant and the hair has that slight shading as well.

Wow, those look amazing, especially Vegeta and Goku! Its refreshing to finally see a Goku that isnt based on the same old mold. He may just become the centrepiece of my collection and many others!

Vegetas boot tips wont get shaded though, we might as well stop hoping. They did the same with Vegetto remember. The boots literally do look like they are just painted yellow so there is no line sculpting at all, bit disappointing, but still, he looks much better!

Gokus boots confuse me. They got it perfect with sdcc/mexi/namek Goku, so why are they painted reversed (android saga on) colours?

Oh hey Big D, this sculpt has cleared the shoulder biceps gap the goku mould had!

@Prod I'm glad I have the og trunks cause that jacket was already more blue than the anime, which is more purple, and this is just straight up too blue for me. But a nitpick.

I pretty much agree with this assessment. The boot tips on this new Vegeta just seem very bland. Can't even tell if there are actual lines sculpted, which there should be. For a company that prides itself on incredible articulation, the details need to be equally as good no matter how small. I know I'm being biased but I feel my custom turned out better



b-but i'm still gonna buy it no doubt. Same with the "new" Trunks. It's just an extra bonus for those of us that have the originals already.

Wouldn't have been too hard to do, but maybe it's temporary. It's certainly nice.

Awakening Goku being normal makes sense too with how much it'll sell, and being a BD version of the first SSJ Goku, I guess, but it's a nice change. That said I'm glad I never got a DaTong now and held out, knew we'd get one of these. Though I may get a DaTong just for the Super Trunks head.

No doubt about that. We will end up having 15 different Gokus on our collection. Bandai knows how to take money from our wallets.

I also believe that Super Saiyan 4 is not there to avoid people ignoring SSGSS to buy SS4. I mean, people would buy SSGSS now thinking that SS4 is no longer a "valid transformation". And then boom, plot twist, he will appear from nowhere just like shenron did. And people will buy it.

I have a theory for why we haven't seen SSJ4 Goku lately. He's gonna be unveiled as a new GT line at SDCC with perhaps SSJ4 Vegeta and maybe a villain.

But this is a straight up re-color. The original didn't come with crossed arms...

True, I guess that makes sense. Explains the non detailed tips but that would've been a nice extra!

So BD Goku is a NORMAL release... but it's HIGHER than the average web exclusive? He MUST come with some type of accessories, or are they just gonna charge higher for BD sculpts?

I accept the premium they're charging for the Goku even if he doesn't come with a myriad of accessories. It's 90% a completely new sculpt and it's a very intricate one at that. Battle damage figures are a lot harder to sculpt and get right than clean looking figures so I'd expect them to be more expensive what with productions costs and such.

Now that we have this Goku, I expect no less than a proper battle damaged Majin Vegeta. I'd take a clean looking one as well but the battle damaged one is that much more epic.
