I feel like the belt should be thicker. I know it’s supposed to be thin (compared to the artwork it’s based on), but not THAT thin. It doesn't look proportional to the figure
It looks like they just literally stole this

Dude this seriously blows my mind. Before the 2.0s started coming out I thought the original figures looked incredibly accurate to the source material. Seeing the originals next to the 2.0 shows how wrong I was hahah. That 2.0 looks EXACTLY like Goku, it's crazy. I'm kind of sick of getting duplicates of the same characters in the same outfits during the same sagas, but I don't think I can pass on this one

It’s pretty crazy. It’s not like the OG’s were ever inaccurate, but the 2.0’s are just that more more accurate. I pray they don’t do 3.0’s [emoji24]

It's difficult to pass up a better version of an older product. Goku(s), Vegeta, Vader, Stormtrooper, and etc. As much as I'm not thrilled about spending more money on another version of the same figure, the quality of the newer product is too difficult to pass up.

Meh...look at it as different versions of the art work.

Also, the regular normal Goku is wearing a different outfit, so it's not too bad.

I hope Piccolo 2.0 has new accessories and the pink arms.

Agreed, heck all they had to do was use Yamchas belt mold! Makes no sense to me.

The belt looks fine on the displayed prototype. The photographer/poser more than likely didn't push the torso down thus creating a large gap.

I think the belt looks fine, i'm happy for goku and bulma, I don't care for majin Veg or Buu but know i'll probably buy both.

Anyway play with effect parts for figurise and figuarts:

Your prayers may come true to the 3.0 sooner than later lol

They’ve been showing these gel prototypes from some events to events in the past.
That photo is from the event they’re having today. Better than before I say lol

I remember them showing these at past events. This is definitely going the route for 3.0's or they might try to do some special releases on only the MOST popular characters. The big challenge will be the PRICE. I can see these figures pushing close to $100/each. I also see them HEAVILY copying the Mezco One:12 route where we might see them use cloth with the figures, and plastic might be reserved for things like the hair/headsculpts, shoes, wrist-wraps, various hands, accessories, etc.

The problem with rubber/gel is the wear & tear. Hot Toys has still not solved it, Phicen uses it heavily on their seamless bodies (anyone have experience with it? I don't)...so it'll be interesting to see where Tamashii goes with this.

Honestly, I don't want the first figure or two to be a Dragon Ball character...I want Tamashii to "work out the kinks" before they release a Goku for this line.

Hahah exactly! As long as it comes with a standard neutral face in addition to the two already shown I'm sold!

As far as those 3.0s go, aren't they like a rubber material? I can't remember if that was the figuarts line or another 6 inch scale line. If it is it's an easy pass for me, save myself some money

This is pretty interesting here. It looks like Base Goku will be coming out at the old school $39.99 price-point.

I think Tamashii might be reeling at the feedback they've been getting with the newer $50+ price range. Both from vendors AND fans. They ARE getting orders, but I think the high price-point is causing a drop in the orders from retailers because you can see that releases even from past 2+ years are still in-stock (Android 16, Armored Trunks, Beerus, Whis, etc.) and I'm not counting re-releases. Similar to how we've theorized that the higher price-point of Hot Toys has caused a DROP in their production numbers. Yamcha and Tien are EXCEEDINGLY high for being support characters, but I think this is Tamashii balancing the fan desire with knowing they probably won't make that expected sales on these figures...so they jacked the price to ensure a profit.

Obviously, there's minimal sculpt/mold-work going into the new Base Goku 2.0 since most of it is re-used, and the figure is a good "introduction point" to attract newer fans. It's also perhaps a "test" to see if they can make some SOLID sale numbers by lowering the price-point. Goku 2.0 will also likely be their NEXT "SWA Goku"...in which he'll be constantly re-released. It could also set a precedence for future Goku releases (using the new body mold) to be released at a lower price-point.
