Im considering doing that too, I much prefer namek Vegeta to the Saiyan one.
Well, should I ever wanna get Frieza, I'm gonna have to hope he won't rise in price for a while. I opted to order Figuarts Power Rangers Green and Red (in the japanese packaging cause who cares?), because those two together were about 10$ more expensive then that one Frieza figure...:/ And I also expect those to rise in price guaranteed and also sooner.
Man this was a summer in which I spent a lot of money (mostly on japanese stuff), pretty ridiculous.
Just saw this on the web recently, pretty cool. Not sure who made it though im afraid.
You guys saw my pictures of "Namek Vegeta" a while back right? If you need others let me know. It's really easy to do if you're 100% sure not to regret it. If you wanna in some way be able to rectify it with glue or something, that's gonna be hard...
Speaking of customs, I came across this really impressive ssj Bardock, possibly from the same person as the Turles custom
Well you really convinced me to do it. I can't afford to get another Vegeta and thinking about it, I really don't have the space and would like to have a more focused classy collection. I also realize that the Goku coming out, doesn't really match up with Scouter Vegeta, because he looks too old. So I don't have to worry too much about accuracy. However, now that I bought Frieza, the Namek Vegeta is looking even better. You're custom looks so much better aesthetically! I actually had instant buyer's remorse with Frieza and wouldn't even open the Amazon package. I debated on spending the money to ship it back. I really like Frieza, but I wouldn't really want to spend over $20 maybe for him and still worried about having a focused collection. Then I finally decided to open him and my buyer's remorse got worse. He was just so simple and tiny. Plus no matter who it was, it was still really expensive. However. After opening him, my opinion flipped. It's such a great figure, especially with his tail wrapped around a defeated Vegeta. I highly recommend him. He may be the best in the line. Unfortunately, now I don't think I can afford Piccolo, a character I actually love. I really should figure out a game plan and stick to it. I just have to tell myself, just because you don't have the figure, it doesn't mean you don't really like the character. Sorry Shenron!
Really glad you're happy with owning Frieza in the end, buyers remorse can feel so horrible! My reasoning to convince myself to cut the armour down to Namek size on Vegeta, was that Namek Vegeta encounters a lot more characters on top of which figures I'd actually buy. Nappa is the ONLY character FA Vegeta interacts with that's tied to Vegeta in that suit. Whereas Namek Vegeta encounters so many more characters, and encounters Goku just as as he does on Earth. I love their first fight on earth, but it's not my favourite fight in the series or something. Up to that point Vegeta was also nothing but a power-hungry villain. I'm a fan more of the explored, even redeemed Vegeta, then Vegeta at simple evil self. So I concluded I sacrificed having a Nappa/Vegeta/Goku display, for having Namek Vegeta, and getting to spend the money for Nappa on a different figure, which was a good outcome for me. I basically decided, realising I probably won't ever wanna spend the money to have every single saga line-up, I could do without the Earth saga in favour of the Namek one... And the Namek and Cell periods will be my main collecting focus. Everything else will have to wait, unless there's nothing else to buy for a long time. That's my game plan I guess.
As I've been collecting for a few years now (I collect more then this line), I also realised I had sometimes collected stuff I could either do without, or felt its worth was better spent on something else for me. (For example I basically sold a massive Marvel Legends collection over time, in favour of stuff I was more fan of, like DBZ.)
So yeah uh, hope my long rambling might help someone settle their collecting dilemma's. Oh and good chance Shenron will bite the collector dust for me too if it comes down to making choices from a limited budget...
See you're really smart about that. It's helpful to me! Even if money wasn't an issue, I realize, I really don't want a room full of action figures. I won't be able to appreciate them and none of those interchangeable pieces won't be put to any use, because even without the accessories, they can be put in so many poses and it'll get to crazy. If I don't get focused, I'd end up having multiples of every figure to put with not only different sagas, but different scenes. If I have so many figures, it'll be way to much of a hassle to change parts, and everything will get crowded, and it would defeat the purpose of spending so much on these high quality figures. I have real buyers remorse from collecting DC figures over the years and haven't taken them out of the package because of it. All I wanted was a Bane figure, but I didn't want to spend the money to get the one I really wanted, so I ended up buying multiple Banes, increasingly more expensive, until I got the DCUC one I wanted. Then I figured since I have all those Banes, I should get Batman figures to match and figured it might be classy. Then figured I should get Batman's rogues, then the Robins, which branched to the Teen Titans, then some other Batman Universe related heroes like Zatanna, Creeper, Etrigan, Jonah Hex, etc, then the Justice League, then their arch villain to go with them. All I wanted was the DCUC Bane! I love all of DC, but I did not want to spend that kind of money, nor want it too take up that much space! I don't even know about Steppenwolf, but he's Darkseid's uncle, which relates to Superman, which relates to Justice League, then to Batman, and then to Bane! Then there's DC Direct with their better sculpts, but different scales, so you need to get others to match in that scale. When Marvel Legends came back, I went all Smeagol. You don't even know who any of those people are? But it's Marvel Legends! They're back! The sculpts and the paint don't even look good! But build a figures! You don't even know or like any of those characters! You haven't cared about Marvel for years! I'll go back and read all my old stuff and then, it'll make me like it again. Thankfully, I avoided it! (Well, except for reading some of my old comics and know who they are now.) All I wanted was Bane! Don't be like me people! Save yourselves! Oh and old comics are pretty darn good!
I honestly do really appreciate your post and I'm sorry for writing so much! Maybe it might help someone here! I really should figure out my game plan and stick to it. You've got a great strategy and although you had the excellent idea of going with First Form Frieza, because it would lead to so many possiblities like the Ginyu Force, Zarbon, Cui, and other scouters, it was probably best that I got Final Frieza. That way, he doesn't fit with them, and I can avoid going that hole. I know if I make the Namek Vegeta, that whole saga is out for me, which is what I really want....then again....
