I don't think I've seen anything that handled time travel as well as DBZ. It's the only instance, where I think it makes sense. I think it's pretty brilliant, the way Toriyama had Gohan call out the flaw in almost every time travel story.
I actually think the plots are good. Sure, I can pick at it, but I love the series. I've seen movies, that I deem pretty flawless, but I don't really go back to most of them. My all time favorite movie is Fight Club, and I actually skip scenes while watching it and I acknowledge the flaws, but the positives FAR out way the flaws. I can see how much more complex Simpsons episodes got around the 7th season, but I've watched the second season's episodes at least 50 times. I'm not exaggerating one bit! I wouldn't say Bart gets a F is the best written, but I love it so much. It's not a competition.
