MY NAPPA!!! WHAT HAVE THEY DONE!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOwell at least there's Kid Buu

Wow...no Nappa or Shenron that is a huge let down. So basically if this is how they see things we can expect to not see: Broly, A.16 , 1st/2nd form cell , 2nd/3rd form frieza, king cold, raditz, ginyu, recoome, burter or dodoria. Those are pretty much all the bigger characters in dbz... So basicly after kid buu and A.17 what do we have left? Majin vegeta, mystic gohan, supreme kai? Tien , yamcha, chao tzu? Thats a huge bummer ..

Shenron :( really sad.

Considering they made the kamen rider ryuuki dragon, I though they'll use the same mold. And for large figure, they made tiger bunny rock bison which is the size of nappa.

I know, I was a bit bummed too to hear that but you have to understand, every line is different. One line doesn't influence the other and they have their reasons for doing what they do. Today, I really got to learn just how involved the toy company is. They literally have maps for where every case goes, how it should be facing next to each other, what poses figures should have, etc. I'm very excited to see how they go about displaying figures in the cabinets tomorrow. Apparently they have a team come in to deal with that but they said I might be able to help them with it!

That mold is completely different from Shenron. You can't reuse that one. And if they did, fans would cry fowl all day.

Yes, I saw this figure before, pretty awesome piece of art. I hope that Shenron will be released in the future, I want my magic dragon!

I personally don't care about Nappa, with my student economy and all the collections that I'm following I have to be selective, and bad guys don't interested to me at all, yep, I'm a weirdo xD So Kid Buu neither. A-17 maybe... Just maybe.

I wouldn't rule out Brolly out of all those you listed. He is a saiyan and last time I spoke with them, they specifically stated that saiyans are the number one sellers and leaders on their list of figs to make of course. Even though Nappa's a saiyan, he doesn't really look like your typical saiyan. Those other guys you mentioned are very insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Even though you like them, the mass market most likely wouldn't care for them. They want the staples. Figure making is very complex and has a high risk at times. Dodoria would be a huge loss of money for them for sure.

Sucks to hear about Nappa and Shenron's fates. Why even tease us with their prototypes if they were never even considered from the start? What are they gonna do with those 2 prototypes they shown?? Just throw them away?? Leave them on the cutting room floor in the warehouse to collect dust? Such a letdown :/

Could only hope in the future they have a change of heart & decide to release them in extremely limited quantities, that way they'd sell quickly and still make a decent profit. They can produce lets say 200 of each, market them at $149.99 a pop, and leave it at that. Only us die-hard collectors would throw down the cash to buy them (and we WILL buy them). Casual collectors wouldn't bother, and if you're one of those that missed the opportunity to buy one when they were available? Then oh well, they're called "limited editions" for a reason. Why can't they use this approach? It's a win-win for both Tamashii and us collectors. PwnStar511, if you have ANY pull, it'd be greatly appreciated to at least drop this idea to them. Even if they said "not now, but we may consider it for the future," then that's all we need. Anything but "forget about Nappa/Shenron, you'll never get your hands on one!"

We can never truly replicate the infamous "OVER 9000!!!!" scene if we don't have Nappa. With Normal Goku's release imminent, all the pieces are already in place, except for the very last one, and that's really a bummer, man..

I guess we'll more than likely see characters such as Hercule, Tien, Adult Gohan, Majin Vegeta, Goten/Trunks, and Gotenks in the coming years.

Haha, believe me...I tell them how much the fans want all of these figures. I always say I'm an active member on forums and fans are always talking about wanting these figures. They usually smile, laugh and say ah yes. But I feel like it doesn't have much say. These companies are all about the bottom line. Plain and simple. They know way more about selling toys than we could imagine just because we desire certain figs. They don't care about fans wanting to replicate the over 9000 scene. That's hardly even a thing in Japan and the only reason we got the crushed scouter is because of Bluefins influence. They told me themselves. Normal Goku is being released because he's a huge draw, not because it's one step closer to recreating a scene only made popular in America.

I would expect Goten, Trunks, Gotenks, Mystic Gohan, Majin Vegeta and Vegetto, (maybe Brolly) to be released in the future. Those are the figs MOST of us all really want.

Master Roshi, Lunch , Videl and Bulma could be on the list too, as ive seen they made a lot of female shf characters.

There are a huge motherload of kamen raider figures, how many characters are there anyway?

I can't give up hope for Nappa and Shenron, I just can't.. there's gotta be a solution. I know it's insignificant in the grand scheme of things like you said, and I'm sure there's numerous reasons why they're not producing them. But, I'm also sure there's been ideas or prototypes of characters that have never even been seen outside their top-secret offices, but the difference here is, they actually decided to show off their Nappa/Shenron prototypes to the masses, FULLY PAINTED no less! But now they're just gonna throw them away? The old "na-na-na, you see this? you like it? well we changed our minds, you can't have one!" routine? Both Nappa & Shenron would've been more feasable as a Figuarts ZERO, yet they still managed to give them articulation.. just for no reason? That logic baffles me.

You said Nappa and the "Over 9000" scene isn't even known outside of America, but isn't that the point? He would be marketed only for us, because we're the only market that will buy him. Make him an exclusive.

Shenron would definitely just be the crown jewel of DBZ Figuarts (perhaps even ALL DBZ toys in existence). If they make only 100 of them worldwide, sell them for $200 a piece only available on their website, for only 2 weeks.... if there's a will, there's a way! I'll never give up hope. They can even apply this idea to the "less-popular" characters if they wanted. The masses aren't interested? Fine, there's a niche market that we're aware of (us) that WILL buy them, so we'll produce a very limited quantity of said character at whatever price we want, and we'll market to them. If they sell out fast, maybe we'll consider this method for other characters down the line. Low risk, high reward.

You're a Lunch fan too! High Five! I would buy all four of those!

Maybe they made the prototypes to test the waters so to speak. Maybe their internal research found out that people didn't care for them despite seeing the protos. There's also the engineering involved with making them which I imagine was the biggest deciding factor. Those guys require way more unique tooling and perhaps they came to the conclusion that it simply wasn't cost efficient to make characters like that (they really are lessen known/less popular).

Hi All,

As some of you may remember, I was able to work at the Tamashii Nations booth last October for New York Comic Con. Well they asked if I could help them again for NY Toy Fair and of course I said yes. I just wanted to report back with some news after speaking with one of their reps from Japan (this was a different guy setting up all the displays). He seemed to be about my age (26) and was very friendly.

He said that Android 17 is next in the lineup with Kid Buu most likely following up after him to complete the main villains of the series. Super Buu and Fat Buu are much bigger versions and from what I gather, those bigger figures aren't favored by Bandai for production. He said Nappa and Shrenon are no longer a consideration.

We didn't put the figures in the cases yet but I wouldn't count on seeing any new prototypes at TF unfortunately. He just showed me Android 18 while he was getting everything ready for tomorrow.

Thanks for the update! Hell yes for Kid Buu possibly coming after the android twins!

You're a Lunch fan too! High Five! I would buy all four of those!

Yes I like the good display of variety rather than the normal cluttering characters for the last 20 years.

Honestly if I don't care of people raising eyebrows, I would buy the sailormoon ones. I always like art display than the characters itself.

I would expect Goten, Trunks, Gotenks, Mystic Gohan, Majin Vegeta and Vegetto, (maybe Brolly) to be released in the future. Those are the figs MOST of us all really want.

Thank you for that hope there! I will buy all those! Although, I dislike Gotenks. I still won't give up on Kid Goku, but I'm pretty confident we'll get Majin Vegeta and Mystic Gohan, which would make me very happy! The only worry is that Majin Vegeta wasn't on their poll, but you said when you mentioned it last time, that they seemed pretty open to it. I'm hoping for regular Trunks and Goten, not SSJ versions, if we only get one. I will be buying multiple Majin Vegetas, and put one of them with Trunks and Goten for the Final Atonement scene.

Thank you though! It's really helpful. I'm making my list now, keeping in mind that I should scratch off big villains and non major characters. Raditz was on their poll and he was the first intro to the villains of DBZ, so there's still hope in that, but he's pretty huge, especially with the hair being even bigger than SSJ3 Goku. Beerus probably isn't popular enough, being that he was just in a movie, so he's probably out. I'm curious how popular SSJ4 Goku is in Japan, being that he was on the poll, because I love the design.

I'm actually really interested on more insight on how the industry works, because I know it's got to be really tough!

I wouldn't mind if they made Super Boo smaller, if it would help, because elothk's custom looked great. This is just me throwing out wishes though. I understand! Especially since they keep announcing new franchises (I hate you Mario, I hate you so very much.), which will help the company and have even wider appeal. I'm ignorant to a lot of it, but I would listen to a bunch of interviews with the Matty Collector's guys and it gave me a much bigger appreciation of the behind the scenes. It's a tough business!

At the end of the day, I just want the DBZ Figuarts line to continue to thrive. Eventually, they're gonna release most if not all the "safe" characters such as Vegito and Adult Gohan, but what then? Once all the Saiyans and main villains are on the market, will the line stop because all that's left are side-characters that no one cares for?

That's why I proposed the idea of "produce limited quantities of the side-characters for the niche market of collectors," that way we have access to the lesser-known ones we want, and Tamashii is still making a decent profit. If they did this with Nappa and he doesn't sell, then fine, they took a gamble and it didn't pay off, which means no more side-characters at all. But at least they'll know for sure, because they'll have the numbers to back it up. But if they DON'T try, then they'll NEVER know.

I know the bottom line is it's just a business, but it's also a purely FAN-driven business, so if we don't speak up for the characters that we want, then what's the point?

I think we need a new Facebook poll: "Should Tamashii Bluefin release Nappa/Shenron in the near future?"

If that nappa doesn't come out as a regular release or a web exclusive or an sdcc exclusive im going to ****ing kill someone. That was my most anticipated figure ... yes even more then normal goku! V day ruined!

Ok can't tell if you're completely serious or not, however if you are completely serious than I'm right with you. I really wanted a Nappa to go with the Vegeta figure, honestly I'd rather have him than Kid Buu, ya sure I'd like a Kid Buu for my SSJ 3 Goku however come on that's not as cool of a display or as memorable of a moment as the saiyan saga
