I guess DC's entire problem is just the fact that it has no true one incarnation of their characters.

Honestly, overall, when it comes to jla/avengers/z fighters, sorry america, I'm in camp Z. (Which is horrible to say for me because Batman is and will remain my favourite character ever created.)

Ohw you can PM me your thoughts Philosopher, would love to hear it.

If anyone is annoyed by the derailment just say so and we can cut it off, but imo the prboelm with an actual battle between the two is two-fold: one, they both kill only when there's not other option. And secondly, superman's powers are extremely inconsistently portrayed, whereas Goku's powers are simply depended on which point in his life you take.

Therefore to me I came to the conclusion both have incarnations stronger then the other one, but during most of Goku's life, he's I would say strong enough to beat most incarnations of Superman. If you take Superman's strongest incarnation ever written in some cb somewhere, he's flat-out invincible and he'd probably destroy even Beerus.

However, I think DBZ is underestimated in just how powerful everyone is because it's practically unfathomable. Raditz is already completely invulnerable to bullet fire and he's the weakest enemy in the entire series, his power level is what, 300? 300 = bullets are useless.

Goku reaches milions upon milions upon milions.... I would be content with saying DBZ's powerlevel is near ********, especially post-namek, but the fact remains, I'd say, that most casual incarnations of Superman aren't anywhere near where the dbz characters are half the time of the show.

I'd go so far as to say the fusion of piccolo and kami could defeat most incarnations of superman. Let's remember that saiyan saga vegeta already has the power to destroy a planet, even barely without charging. That power level is already pretty rare for Superman to display.

Because Superman's powers change mostly because of different writers and incarnations, whereas Goku's powers change completely within the sole arc of the show, I say it's fair to say Goku beats Superman in the general sense.

I hope my signature negates the idea of bias here.

you're missing one thing however. a consistant theme that is present whenever they adress just how strong Superman is.

That he's constantly holding back for fear of destroying everything around him.

ignore the movies and TV shows, as that's where the majority of the inconsistancies stem from, and go for the source, the comics.

End of the day, I'd say it would be a fairly even fight, and one that would only be decided by the fight. impossible to call beforehand.

it's also worth noting:

Strange visitor from another planet, raised by benevolent parrents to embrace good morals and eventualy ends up a hero to the people of his adopted world.

They're mirrors of each other.

The laws of physics in the DBZ universe are quite different than they are in the DC/Marvel Universes so it's hard to say "this guy can beat that guy" because their realities & circumstances aren't the same. For instance in the DBZ universe, it seems that most beings don't have a problem breathing in space, or more accurately, the stratosphere (Vegeta & Nappa in their space pods right before blowing up planet Arlia, with the hatches wide open they could easily fly out. But nah it's cool, there's still "oxygen" up there right?). All those Saiyans fighting Frieza's men above planet Vegeta, they're clearly not in the planet's atmosphere anymore. Piccolo blows up the moon with no consequences to the earth's environment whatsoever. Goku fighting Beerus above earth. When Vegeta/Nappa land on earth, their impact causes a huge crater, logic says they should've been pancakes yet they are unharmed, not even their space ships. So who's to say that the DBZ characters in the DC Universe would retain the same abilities, and vice-versa? There's no right or wrong answer, really.

That said, Dr. Manhattan>all other heroes ;)

Perfect explanation crisis. I think Daffy Duck could take Dr. Manhattan through psychological warfare. If he drives him crazy, and he leaves the planet, I say that's a win. Talk about crazy universes!

heres some more of my home made ki effects with Vegeta...

man, i wish I could take better pix!

@Lerath666 1) that point goes for Goku as well, at the higher powerlevels he always has to hold back in fear of destroying the planet, especially because the strongest attacks are AoE to some degree.
2) They're more mirrors in the western version of DBZ than the japanese one. That is to say the elements are the same, but the personality is not.

Ultimately the simple answer is: whoever the writer likes more. But if you put instances of power level side by side, Superman's power makes no sense if he always has access to his highest amount of power. The fear of destroying things only goes so far, a punch is a punch. That;s why I do seperate incarnations, otherwise it's unfair imo. Superman is to whatever degree the writer wants a God.

If you want to include everything, Goku wins on being his power being more clearly defined and developed (I mean that, despite all the criticism DBZ gets). Superman, hell most super powered DC characters, are unfair enemies because the writing is all over the place.

You can pit specific versions against each other, but overall, there's a larger spectrum of instances where Goku wins, than Superman.

And in ALL of this I have ignored kryptonite... Which is honestly still to this day the dumbest thing ever invented in superhero material. It's the biggest cop-out in pop culture fiction ever.

I was highly pleased with the effort in man of steel to make his power more tangible and nuanced, but on the whole superman is a ridiculous character when he has to rely on kryptonite to be vulnerable. ANd it's THE reason I've never found much appeal in superman until I saw man of steel - which instantly made him freakin awesome by at least hinting at possible ways to damage him without a dumb ****ing rock negating his powers. I've nothing against kryptonite in and of itself as one of multiple ways to hurt superman, but if it's the only way to hurt superman, the character is nonsense to me.

Yeah I didn't like the kyrptonite aspect of Superman either, it's almost overdone at times. Reading some of the comics, watching the 90s DC animated shows (Batman The Animated Series forever :clap ) and Christopher Reeve movies really helped though convince me otherwise though. Man of Steel helped too.

My favorite episode of Superman TAS was always, "The Late Mr. Kent," because it didn't deal with any of that. The point of the character is that he's an alien with incredible power, but lives humbly and selflessly, using his gifts to help those who NEED help. I never liked the argument, "He's the most heroic and interesting character, because he's an inspiration how we should be." There's hundreds of other Superheroes that do the same thing and have depth to their character. And if you do the BS stuff, like throwing out Kryptonite like you mentioned, creating new established powers, or breaking it's established ficticious rules, there's no drama, and nothing to take any inspiration from. Spider-man got the message of a lot of what Superman should have been from his debut in 1962 in my opinion. "With great power, comes great responsibility."

Nice job crisis! I hope they use that Injustice costume for the figuarts, if they don't choose the New 52 alternate costume.

Hey guys just saw this vid on you tube and this guy has awesome effect pieces for figuarts, he's even got a spirit bomb and kaioken set up look up normal goku figuarts josh phelps

So, I just decided my figuarts display was overcrowded. So I spent a good part of the day paring back down to the bare necessities! Now it really does look like a specified Figuarts collection. Who can tell the what the major **** up in the pictures was, it's fairly obvious! I since fixed it and it looks much better. Bring on the Androids!
