Obi's pants are too dark for ep I and his boots little too light, which was the case in II. Nevertheless, I think the likeness and detail is astounding for this scale. Can't ****ing wait to have it.

@Gasper they do still plan on making Revan I assume.

Agreed silrian, his robes are a little too yellow, his pants too dark and his boots too light.

Other than that, and a little wishy washy paint on his face, he looks amazing.

I can't wait to get my two.

Does anyone else find it odd that all Jedi dress like they live in the desert? Up until Ep1 I assumed that the only reason Old Ben dressed like a desert hermit was because he was a desert hermit. And then Lucas standardized an outfit across the board for all Jedi: clunky brown robes... Another home run, George.

Padawan Obi does not look great imo. The highlights on his hair don't start until the top of his head, completely missing around his hairline.

Hey, everyone!

First time poster on these forums, and I'll admit to being an S.H.Figuarts Star Wars addict! It's pretty much the only toyline I collect. However, I might buy the odd 3.75" basic Star Wars figure every once in awhile to satisfy my nostalgia. It's only in recent years that we've gotten these highly detailed action figures from Japan after all.

I've got all the figures released so far; either in-hand, in-transit, or pre-ordered! In fact, I just paid for my Obi-Wan Kenobi (Episode I) from my favorite retailer AmiAmi for the low cost of $53.49 including shipping! I'm a loyal AmiAmi supporter, and get all of my pre-orders in at 2AM EST. If you aren't an F5'er like me then you risk missing out, and then you have to pay the scalper tax! If you're lucky the pre-orders will open up again later in the day, or you could desperately wait for the leftover stock that might not even exist once the figure is released.

I can't afford to maintain a Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Star Wars 1/6 scale collectible figure collection, so I was forced to turn to the 1/12 scale offerings from Bandai Tamashii Nations! I'm a completionist, as it is necessary for me to own ever figure from a particular toyline. I can't explain it, I just need to own all the figures! IT'S ALL OR NOTHING FOR ME! I'm just not happy unless I have every single last one. I'm struggling to afford all of the S.H.Figuarts Star Wars figures as it is, but it's either this or I have to downgrade to Hasbro's The Black Series.

NO, THOSE FIGURES DON'T HAVE COLLECTIBLE QUALITIES LIKE MY GLORIOUS BANDAI JAPAN ONES DO! I won't go back! These S.H.Figuarts, they aren't children's junk. They have display value, they are works of art! Each one is a little treasure! They utilize superior technology in their design and production! You just don't get it, S.H.Figuarts is everything the Black Series was promised to be. This is Hasbro's ultimate betrayal!

Trouble is, I'm worried about the longevity of the S.H.Figuarts Star Wars line. It's unlikely that they'll make Greedo, Walrus Man, or Hammerhead (I don't use EU names because I'm a fan of the films, and not some fan-fiction novellas) action figures. I don't even think they're doing a Qui-Gon Jinn one anymore! Do you think we'll see more display stands like the Death Star II windowsill one they did for Darth Vader? What about vehicles? They're doing speeder bikes, but what about starfighters? I would love a 1/12 scale Rancor as a part of the S.H.MonsterArts line, but there's virtually no chance of that happening. I'm really waiting for Bandai to start taking big risks and announce something amazing. A man can dream isn't it?

Now that we've gotten my introduction out of the way, I have some questions of the utmost importance. Please answer them to the best of your ability.

I always buy two of every "trooper" or "grunt" figure for display purposes, do you guys follow the same rule or am I doing it wrong? I got two of the Stormtrooper, Shadow Trooper, Clone Trooper, Battle Droid, First Order Stormtrooper, and the First Order Stormtrooper (Shield & Baton Set). I only ordered one Scout Trooper, as I felt having two speeder bikes would look redundant in a display. I would gladly buy a second Scout Trooper if he got re-released as a stand alone figure (maybe with an additional non-canon sniper rifle), but he's just too expensive with that bike to buy more than one. I mean nobody is crazy enough to have bought multiple Sideshow 1/6 Speeder Bikes, right? The same rule applies here.

The other thing I wanted to discuss is less of a philosophical debate on the dialogue of toy collecting. It's my S.H.Figuarts Clone Troopers! I take care of my figures, I SWEAR IT! They are my life and honor! I only put them in the crouched shooting pose like you see in the promotional photos, and like I've seen other collectors do! The thigh swivels have noticeably loosened since doing so!

I either damaged them somehow, or it's a flaw in the design of the new style joints! The Stormtroopers use the same joints for the legs, but the articulation is severely hindered which is probably why I didn't have any problems with them. I THINK I RUINED MY CLONE TROOPERS, YOU GOTTA HELP ME! I need to know, did this happen to anyone else? Has anyone else here had a similar experience? I am about to have a panic attack!

Well, I think that about sums everything up! I'm really looking forward to discussing the S.H.Figuarts Star Wars action figure line with all of you! I just want to talk about my favorite toys! My life is toys you know, I don't have much else to look forward to. Now that McDonald's is serving breakfast all day, I don't even have a reason to get out of bed anymore.

Thanks!

Best Wishes,
Weakling

Wow.
I can answer one of your questions.
I only buy 1x trooper on this line. If those were cheaper figures, I will consider 2x of them, but 2x is twice every time. Also, I pass on repaints or variations. I just want one representation of each model. Repaints are the industry joke, I think. They can release so many repaints until the end of the days... I can't play that game. So, I'm happy with 1x Phase 1 Clone Trooper, it represents the iconnography of the Clone Wars, I don't need more. I will buy 1x Super Battle Droid, but I will pass on regular Battle Droid variations.
It's an interesting debate, and I could discuss this for hours...

Finally got my Jedi Luke and Darth Maul, overpaid and dissapointed....disappointed that I'm now hooked!!!
I only really want core charachters from the OT (always like Maul though), now I really want Vader and a stormtrooper.
Do you think the stormtrooper a will be reissued for a third time? Because the prices are very high now

Jedi can wear anything they want, but most of them are just upholding tradition by dressing in those robes. I recall years ago, early 2000's, Lucas did a Q&A and was asked why Anakin's robes are black & everyone else wears brown. He said Anakin just prefers the color black, that's all.

Yeah, see, that's a good point. It's a minor gripe, I know, but I would have liked to see a little more variation in Jedi outfits. It's the origin of the tradition of wearing brown robes I don't get. Where did that come from?

And story-wise, Anakin wore black to foreshadow his turn to the darkside, or perhaps his balancing on the edge of light and dark, like Luke in ROTJ. I still love that Luke force chokes Jabba's guards. Luke is teetering on the edge of Sith and Jedi. It's such a shame, I love the Luke/Vader plot in ROTJ but the subplot...

I thought it was odd that Luke aside the Tunic really didn't dress like a typical Jedi. It seems all the Jedi wore brown and tan including the ones in the EU, Shaak Ti, Kit Fisto, etc

But since Luke was the last Jedi, I guess he wanted to be different, but it's strange old Luke in TFA wore the traditional Jedi colors

It's exactly how priests, monks, nuns, and other religious figures dress. It's simply a standard look for the particular religion/philosophy, in this case being a Jedi.

Quite a cathartic post :lol

I wouldn't worry about the longevity of the line, SHF is known for having very long runs, and if there's a toyline that could prove more popular than DBZ, that's Star Wars.

However, about how obscure they'll get, I doubt too much, even Black Series isn't doing EU stuff anymore because ****ing Disney disowned that part of the SW fandom.

I myself, would kill for a Kyle Katarn or a Darth Nihilus. Which I have both in 3.75".

Oh, and welcome!

Japanese figure lines in general are not known for having long runs. Honestly, it is a miracle if they release anything after the main character! Dragon Ball Z is an exception, due to foreign demand, however. Notice how most of the figures heavily re-use parts, you know like Goku's entire body? The Vegito figure even has the standard hands painted white instead of gloved ones! You can see the fingernails and everything! Overall, I would say the Dragon Ball Z figuarts line can't be used to measure anything other than how much Bandai is willing to scam us. They just don't put the Tamashii Soul into it, like they have done with the Star Wars line so far.

Me? I don't have any interest in the EU at all, but as a completionist I'll buy any character they release. I am honorbound to collect them all, no exceptions. Disney didn't disown the EU, I mean they are still publishing those old EU materials under the "Legends" banner. They just want to start their own canon to maintain consistency, and also to selectively steal ideas from past works without giving credit to those writers. Why does anyone care what some some license holder deems canon anyway? Personally, I don't consider anything other than the six films to be canon. Everything else Star Wars related is just fan-fiction, especially the Force Awakens!

Weakling, welcome! As far as how in depth the line will get, it isn't dying out anytime soon. It's a new line and already we have a bunch of prototypes including variants of Troopers and there's been quite a good number of figures released already. They're saturating us with characters and it's barely begun. I'm saying from experience in collecting imports (especially Figuarts) that this line is absolutely booming and it's just started. It's already beginning to overtake lines that have existed for years (DBZ is a good example). There will be PLENTY of chances to empty our wallets with the Star Wars line trust me.

It is true that there have been many new prototypes shown, but most of them are just repaints and kitbashes! I'm scared that Qui-Gon Jinn has been deconfirmed, as Obi-Wan Kenobi includes his green lightsaber! There's been no news on the Stormtrooper disguise versions of Luke and Han that were originally announced either! I am very concerned with all these Clone Wars repaints and no Leia with cinnamon buns hair, Old Ben, or Lando anywhere in sight! What is it with you guys and bringing up Dragon Ball Z? That figure line is terrible! If I collected it then I would be twice as worried as I am about Star Wars. They are never making Raditz, Nappa, or the Ginyu Force!

Welcome , as for what figures i collect multiples of..here is a current photo not including my Movie Realization. I live and breath this line. I'm also want to own the complete line. It's a goal of mine. :)

Why do you have so many, and how can you afford all of those? You've even got off-brand figures added to the mix! ABSOLUTE MADMAN! Wait, you've got the Movie Realizations too? I'll never have a collection like you... *wants to crawl into a corner and DIE*

Oh cool, VincejustVince from Kidrobot and 3A forum is back! :ccheerlea

:panic::banana:elefant:ted

Looking forward to your posts...entertainment deluxe! :yess:

I always thought that Luke's outfit in ROTJ was the official uniform of a Jedi Knight. Was Uncle Owen a Jedi too? Desert robes are an example of blatant copy/paste in the prequels.

Wow.

I once thought as you do, but I feel it is necessary to have hero characters flanked by two grunts. I determined that should I ever change my mind that it would be better to have an extra figure rather than to be without one, as they are too expensive to acquire on the aftermarket.

Personally, I don't consider anything other than the six films to be canon. Everything else Star Wars related is just fan-fiction, especially the Force Awakens!

so, for arguments sake, lets say George Lucas himself releases some short stories of the SW lore in the near future, just for fun. how would you feel about that? would you consider it "Expanded Universe bull*****" with the rest?

What is it with you guys and bringing up Dragon Ball Z? That figure line is terrible!

@Weakling, the DBZ line is a bit of special case since the success and growth was largely effected by the poor sales and popularity of the series in Japan and also the fact that whoever was in charge of the line back then was very stupid (still stupid today, but not as much). The line isn't perfect but it's far from terrible and I dare anyone to name better 1/12 DBZ figures...but this is all better left to the DBZ thread.

https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/anime/83229-figuarts-dragonball-figures.html

Oh man, you realize most of us actually started off in the dragonball figuarts line, right? Basically, tamashii wouldnt really be expanding the way it has been without the success of "terrible" lines like the dbz one. Care to try again? :p

Dbz talk, ignore if not interested

there once was a time that tamashii were taking a loss so they were about to discontinue the dbz line. But then the western side started buying them (huge thanks to 4chan and the guy that posted pics of piccolo destroying a tea party) and tamashii saw the potential to get back their loss. Sadly, this meant reusing Gokus body to gain back their loss and eventually make a profit from the western market alone cause the japs were still not interested enough. And they need to make a profit so they can take a dent from a less popular character.

Now look at the line. it's blooming beautifully. It had a rough start but it's worth it.

You may think they're scamming us or will never make raditz, nappa, etc... but that's just you being pessimistic. If the demand is there, they will make it.

Anyhoo back to sw.
So far I'm doing well of resisting this line but I'm worried that might change when I see Finn and Rey. And the whole group together D:

I think Knights of the old republic did jedi the most justice by mixing armor plates with robes, gave them that holy crusader look. Always thought the "knight" in jedi knights implied some sort of armored look, though not full blown like troopers... Just my opinion.

Anyone care to start guessing on whats going up for order next? Im thinking we ll see jango withing the next three releases (paired up with mace) and ep 2 obi wan could be after that. Im hoping r2 and 3po go up with red arm 3po as web shop ex. Or chewy

Kind of sad the best Mace to ever be made is coming from Figuarts. Not a knock, the figure looks incredible. I just wish we could get a better 1/6th Mace from Hot Toys.... that probably won't happen though.
