Yeah, it’s such a relief that it’s not that straight up gold they were using there for a minute. It looks like they figured out how to do that kinda “sheen” they were going for without the incredibly odd decision of making it look like someone’s hair was just straight up metal. His hair is still "gold" but it's not the BIZARRE gold it used to be. My original Jedi Luke is in the box so I can't tell, but its very possible the legs are re-used. Chest is ALL new. Butterfly joints are good but not as deep as Deadpool's.
I almost thought this was a re-work of a Jabba's Palace WIP they showed years ago, but for that, both hands would need to be flesh and he didn't wear the belt on the outside at Jabba's Palace. So more likely than not, this is a LOT of new tooling, especially arms and chest.
I'm not so familiar with Jedi tunics and what he wore in Jedi vs Mando, but it SEEMS right....could just be Jedi though. The experts will chime in on all the finer workings of his details.
So far I'm thrilled...I always felt that first Jedi Luke was a let down (should have been Death Star II Luke anyway, and even though you can't take the vest or belt off, this is just a more solid and fun figure. Like I said before, the hand options are great!
Saber seems identical to that very first one, from the stupid way to change the tip, to how it hans on the belt. Just has that "fwoosh" option now. Still, as long you keep an eye on that little bitty tip piece, should be OK....
It’s really funny that we had a lot of the same questions/concerns about it, I even can’t find my original Figuarts Jedi Luke to compare it when mine comes either, haha.
To be totally accurate, the saber should be new to reflect how the design changed in Mandalorian so that when he’s wearing the hilt, the control box is facing outward instead of inward.
I’m not a total Jedi robes expert, but from your pics, it looks like the innermost layer is a lot more Death Star II than it should be, the whole upper body of the costume from Mandalorian was more layered in that kinda classic Jedi robe samurai-ish way. And the texture of the tunic parts seems a little over done, they should be kind of closer to the pants or the sleeves. But that all feels a little
nit-picky and doesn’t bother me too much.
So I bet you’re totally right that it’s a major retool/update of that old Jabba’s Palace Luke they displayed ages ago (that I can’t seem to find a picture of).
I can’t wait to get this, though!
I wish they’d do a Bespin Han and Luke, too…
Maybe someday.
