But the dome wasn't that clear in the movie. In fact I just watched it tonight I don't remember seeing a human skull within the dome not one time.

Are you talking about the Giger version?
It's barely noticeable in the final showdown in the Narcissus. At any rate, it's well documented that the dome was clear, it just got fogged up during filming. Also, the massive amounts of KY jelly that were applied to it, together with the lighting, gave it that milky white look.

Are these guys smaller than the neca ones?

About half size.

^^^ That can't be Right? Half size smaller than NECA figures? So it would be 3 1/2 or 4 inches tall? Seems pricey for a small figure, I thought it was around 7 or 8 inches.

So, I'm a bit new to Japanese collectibles - why would I purchase the MonsterArts '79 Alien over the Revoltech one? What are the differences between these two companies? Does anyone have any hands-on experience? (Or most importantly, which one is better quality? :lol)

On looks alone the MonsterArts trumps the Revoltech.

S.H. MonsterArts trumps revoltech in every way. Better detail, articulation, sculpt and paint. They have amazing overall quality/durability. This Alien also features diecast metal in the tail.

i dont know bout the aliens but the revoltech's i do own all have clicky articulation while Tamashii nations articulations are more fluent, like your normal articulation. the good thing about revoltech though, is that all the figures use the same joints so you can easily switch body parts of two different kind of figures to create one funny figure or w/e and really every body part is removable friendly:)

Yes the Giger version. I guess that's why accuracy has never really bothered me as much on this design.

Ya goose I never changed it haha

These are 6inch right? Neca are 8?
I think so , there smaller from what i gather.1/6 is the largest ive gone and Neca is the smallest.I have a revoltech queen and a couple of eva's but there not as cool because of size.

Ditto!
I got the revol Queen too. For such a small figure the detail on her is good but the size makes it less impressive to look at.
This is my main worry about these figures.

I have the mcfarlene queen and I am hoping these will look good together scale wise.

The queen might be too big... it probably matches better with the Neca figures. I didn't buy any of the NECA smaller alien/pred figures.
