ANH takes down AOTC in the first thirty seconds with a flurry to the solar plexus.

The real reason why AOTC is not very well-loved is because it is far too complex and it goes way above peoples' heads. You're not a true STAR WARS fan until you can watch AOTC in one sitting without cringing or falling asleep!

They certainly didn't have the minerals to say so in the thread.

It's by no means a bad film. But there are certainly some bad parts (see above)

I voted AOTC, it had more things that I like about the Star Wars saga than the first film had.

AOTC is my least fav. Star Wars film and if it was not a SW film I probably would never watch it. It is the only SW film that I can say that I don't really like.

I enjoyed it the first time I saw it but I was just happy that there was no Jar Jar. But with repeated viewing this is the one just does not hold up. Except for the love story (if you want to call it that) and how the clone army was started this film does nothing to advance the series.

I like AOTC, but no WAY more than ANH. After ROTS, ANH looks different to me to, the story. It feels nice watching it, not that it didn't before, but NOW it has all new dimensions.

To fix AOTC it only needs these simple steps:

1) Cut out the Sound of Music scene on Naboo and replace it with the deleted scene with Padme's family.

2) Cut out Padme's scene where she gets up after falling out of the ship. Bad FX and bad acting.

3) Recut Anakin's fight with Dooku. This deserved to be more than to guys shadow boxing in the dark. We know there was more to it.

I hate that the emperor is only in 90 seconds of this movie. Put in more Ian! Of all the movies, AOTC is the only one I'll use to take a poddy break during a saga marathon.

Clones really lacks a true Bad guy. It is really the problem with the whole PT. Keep Maul around and this is solved but Lucas fumbled the ball.


TPM had Maul and the Emperor as well as the trade federation.

ROTS had the Emperor and Vader and general G (but he was silly IMO)

Clones really only had Jango Fett and then Dooku appears at the end. This really hurts clones IMO. There is no real threat. Just the threat of barfing over the love story.

But this is were the whole PT falls flat. The OT had Vader and the Empire for all the films. Someone constant to be against. The PT never has that constant bad guy.

I'm sure most people are voting ANH for purely sentimental reasons.

I liked AOTC better as a movie (despite the redundant droid factory sequence), but I'm not sure how much that has to do with the exposition (the Boba Fett-clone connection, Anakin beginning his descent into the dark side, the only mass Jedi fight we'll ever see) which wouldn't have been as powerful without having seen the original trilogy.

But then, I reckon ROTS is the best of the lot, so go figure...

HARDLY. I am not voting for ANH for sentimental reasons at all. I fell it's a MUCH MUCH MUCH better movie. ANH is my favorite of all 6. AOTC had so much poor acting and so many cardboard scenes between Anakin and Padme.

AOTC is part of Star Wars and I do like, but a better movie than ANH??? PLEASE!
