Now that I think about it, it should be fairly easy to "cheat" on the robe. Just find a normal shirt that looks right for the part above the waist. Then sew a simple fabric "tube" for the bottom that gets tied around his waist. Hide the seam between the two with his sash/belt.

Incidentally, from production photos it looks like John wasn't wearing pants under that robe. Too hot, I guess...

I actually just logged on to mention something pretty similar.

I would love to have Sallah in his Raiders garb on the shelf. Really miffed SSC didn't get to him as they seem to do wonders with robbed figures. Both sculpts looks great, btw!

Anyway I dug this old shirt out of the parts bin, 99% sure it's from Sideshow's General Grant:

Remove the pocket, collar, and cuffs and then find some matching material to make the "skirt" half. Dye it all together and cover the seam with the sash.

I've already killed the pocket and the cuffs. Waiting to do the collar for when I have more time.

Thanks, Flosi! I'm going to ty and get some matching fabric this weekend. It's very thin material as you can almost see his left arm through it but I think it'll be better after it's been dyed.

Actually, Its not all that hard to make the tunic/robe from scratch. Just get the appropriate fabric and make a simple pattern like this:

Fold the fabric in half like so, cut out the pattern, and sew the edges. Just takes some skill (not much) with a needle and thread, and some basic talioring skills. Tunics are probably the easiest article of clothing to make anyways. Cheers.

I think I can build the skirt part though so I'll go the two-piece route.

Nope. But I think it would be within reason of most of the sculpts sold here on the boards. There's not the same madness for Indy as say some of the more expensive Joker sculpts.

There's not too many of us that find an overweight Egyptian excavator to be cool at all, really. Not that I want to dredge up the old "why did the Indy line fail" convo but outside if Indy himself there's really only a small handful of characters that are visually appealing in the Indy lexicon..... To you and I Marcus Brody would be a grail, but to 99% of 1/6th collectors he'd just be an old guy in a suit.

But I think Russ only sculpts stuff he wants for himself anyway.

Now I gotta get on that vest. And a shovel. And a torch (making this probably wouldn't be too hard -- toothpicks and some string).

What other things could Sallah have? Rope, shovel, torch... anything else? I guess that's enough really.

What shoes did he have? Old style work boots, right?
