Yes--they didn't re-release the first one, they made a better one. Which is more frustrating for owners of the original? I can't say.

yeah they made a better one with the same design!they have no right to re use the design..it was considered finished with, never to be re-done with the original 1000.:monkey5

If that design is used in the sequel they can do it.:monkey5

Guillermo del Toro used the same design for Hellboy II, then sold the replica rights for film two to Sideshow, allowing them to create a new piece based on the gun--which coincidentally hasn't changed since the last film. Take it up with the filmmakers for not changing the design before selling the licensing rights to the sequel.

Sideshow now has the rights inherent in the new licensing agreement to produce collectibles based upon the designs seen in the new film. There is nothing remotely wrong with what they are doing. They will also likely produce a Hellboy PF based upon his appearance in film two. If it looks the same as the one from film one, some customers will be upset. But they are going to produce items from Hellboy II, according to the terms of their new licensing agreement, regardless of how similar or different the designs might be compared to the first movie.

So are you plannning on keeping your Samaritan or selling it and getting the new one. You can certainly still make your money back on it now if a refund is what you want.

:lolyour joking right...who want a samaritan without glowing bullets, matal and wood?

i'll chuck it out with the garbage:lol

It's difficult with a 1;1 prop replica. They could do another PF of Hellboy as well, but they almost definitely would change the pose, the costume, or something else about it. And since it's from Hellboy II, I don't think anyone would consider it a re-issue.

They did the same with the Samaritan - they changed the material used and the base and the bullets and added a feature - but because it's a 1:1 prop and you can't change the pose or anything significant about the design (since it's the same as the first film) then some people are going to complain.

I do feel your plight, but with this line of reasoning, then all of these products would be considered as re-releases which under-valued the original... and maybe they are:

All the SSE versions of the Universal Monster 12", PFs and busts

Negative Zone and Retro Spider-Man PF

Stealth Iron Man Comiquette and bust

Legacy Bond 12" figures

Thunderball Bond PF (thanks Tom)

etc.

i know what your getting at but it doesn't work in this case.

change the colour or design of the samaritan then i would have agreed.

if you had quit collecting, and no longer followed the industry, your opinion about your Samaritan would still be the same today as it was before this announcement if you had no idea this new on was being released

theres nothing wrong with your Samaritan-1, just think of it as the more affordable polystone version and the ORIGINAL Samaritan. The only thing devalued, is your opinion. Youre obviously not a flipper anyway, so value doesnt matter. its not like its a metal version for the same price ... :monkey1

... jeez your wife is still hot, stop gawking at the new girl on the block and realize what you already have...

Also, think about the Dead 560 and Doctor. The exclusive more limited version came out months after the reg on the 560 and I think a day later on the Doctor. I guess those people should get refunds too.

Isn't this what UC and MR have done again and again, with much less changes...

I don't understand this logic... it is a new base, different materials, different features (isn't this similar to a different color?)... to me, this IS a different design of the collectible (not the weapon per se). And that is what we are discussing, the collectible, not the actual weapon.
