Well, figure that the TPM alone grossed almost a Billion dollars. I am surprised as well by some of the names.

Re: Samuel L. Jackson highest grossing actor of all time?

Your title is misleading... Samuel L. Jackson isn't the highest grossing actor of all time... his movies are! You can sort that table on any column... sort it by average Box Office gross of "starring" roles, and Daniel Radcliffe kicks butt by being the only one with an average above $200 million for his starring roles movies. It is all about the movie's grosses... not the actor's grosses.

Sorry I just noticed that, oops, can you please change the title if you wouldn't mind. I mean't actor with the highest grossing fims.

Re: Samuel L. Jackson highest grossing actor of all time?

Look at his average of the Last 10 Movies: $27,355,972
Compared to second place Tom Hanks: $156,683,234

Re: Samuel L. Jackson highest grossing actor of all time?

So he made more, he's a self proclaimed whore. If they pay him enough he will do anything. It took him more than twice as many movies to hit that number then the next three.

Re: Samuel L. Jackson highest grossing actor of all time?

I'm surprised Christopher Lee isn't in there between the LOTR trilogy and the SW prequals alone...

Re: Samuel L. Jackson highest grossing actor of all time?

When you're in practically every movie being made it's tough not to be the top grosser. If you're handing out a paycheck, Sam Jackson is there.

DeNiro has appeared in 60 movies and is #14 on that list. DeNiro is 20X the better actor so it really doesn't mean much. In fact every "Great" actor on that list is far from the top.

It just means that Jackson he has an AMAZING agent! :D

It's interesting to note that many acclaimed actors and directors really aren't all the bankable. Of all Deniro's f^^^^s, Meet the Parents/^^^^ers were his highest grossing. How many of Scorsese's films are at the top of the highest grossing films list? But it's the high grosses from those movies on these lists that make the less profitable critical films possible.

I guess "f*l*i*c*k*s" and "F*o*c*k*ers" get filtered.

:lol its well known Samuel L Jackson will be in almost anything, its also well established that he love popcorn films which is why he is in almost every one. Deniro for example is picky about what roles he is in, which limits the amount of time he works because he has the luxury of choice. Go to Johnny Depp, number 16 for example, he choose the artsy route more often than not which limits his gross and while Burton has a cult following he isn't a bash director money making machine by any means so his constant tag team with him often limits it as well.

Interesting thing is if you sort by last 10 movies you get Gary Oldman at number 1 (Batman and Harry Franchises help) and SLJ at 106 and if you sort by over 100 Million, Tom Hanks goes number 1 and SLJ goes number 8.

I know DeNiro is both picky about the roles he plays but 60 films in about 35 years doesn't seem too "picky" at all. Now Pacino at 33 films in about the same time frame does make more sense. That is also why he is my favorite actor.
