I have already done just that, but I was completely honest in my description of the problem -- that the piece arrived intact, and it broke when I tried to move it, but that I believe that the breakage was still the result of a design flaw. I even managed to remain polite in my email. ;)

We'll see what happens. I've had good luck once before. My wife's cat chewed on the tip of my Easterling's spear, and they were able to send me a replacement. But there is quite a bit more detail in these troopers, so I am not sure that they will have any set aside as individual spares.

Okay...here goes. The piece is still very cool, but the following show the apparent lack of size of the figures. While still very cool, just wish it could have been a bit bigger.

I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to post any photos of mine. I'm so mad (at myself AND Sideshow) right now that words almost fail me. I received mine, put it on a table to set up the troopers, and then (foolishly) picked it up to move it. The pegs that hold the troopers in place are so short and flimsy that one of the troopers fell over... and off... and onto the hard floor... landing on his blaster... snapping the blaster and his arm into three pieces.

While I realize that Sideshow technically fulfilled their obligation, since the piece was intact when it was delivered, the pathetically bad design of the pegs makes them mostly useless, and that is the real reason that I now have a $75 doorstop. Thanks, Sideshow.

Well that stinks. I hope they're still able to help you out.

Besides that, what do you think of it? I can't say I'm really wowed by any of the photos I've seen.

Got mine today. Really cool! The detail is very nice especially for the size of the figures. Came out looking as good as SDCC. I will say the troopers are a touch loose in their locations. Pics to come later. Gotta go get some sleep.

They pretty much show what you get, I would stay clear of this one.

*and yes, I actually own it; for now*

I like it because it captures the feeling of the scene very well, even including the trooper who held up the metal ring (the one that broke on mine :monkey2). But I would have liked it a LOT more if it had been just a tad larger and included a dewback.

I do think the detail in the troopers is pretty amazing for the scale, and the paint apps are very well done also.

I would say that the detail is okay at best. These are about the size of the Armies of Middle earth figures, I would have to say, those had some pretty awesome detail considering their $1-2 each price tag. Plus...these are STORMTROOPERS...no need to have ANY facial details...build a mold of the helm, and cast 5 of them. Heck, even the two Sandies carrying the rifles are the SAME sculpt with slightly altered heads.

Now...for $70 this isn't too bad, but I was hoping for a bit more.

Yeah, the pictures do pretty much show you what you get, but I wouldn't say stay clear of it. That's about off the mark as you can get especially its a nice piece for $70.

Beat you Josh... #242.:D

That ya did :p

Yeeeeeeeeee-haw, Mr. Super Fan strikes again.

Beware the contrarian, Josh looms abroad.

 :emperor

Whatever. Its a nice piece for $70. That's my opinion and I'm not taking an opposite postion just because I like SS, but because of how I feel.

Thought maybe you where a bit above calling names and acting like a snot but I guess not.

I am very much above calling names, I only called you "Mr Super Fan." If anything, my opinion was first criticized; and yes, I know, I know -- you were voicing your opinion, but in your typical "The Josh" way.

Josh, there are much more contructive ways of getting your point across; I can't think I am alone in wishing you would explore those.

:lecture:lecture:lecture So im not totally alone in thinking this.... way to go LOTRFan :clap:clap

And my opinion is, stay clear of this piece of crap. For $70 you could find something way better. The troopers look like they are made of wax and the details are melting away. :rotfl

My advice would be to carefully examine the pics in this thread. If you like what you see in them -- and this is one case where pics pretty much DO accurately show what you are getting, unlike many other Sideshow pieces that far outshine their photos when seen in person -- then consider buying it. But if the pics don't wow you, the piece won't either.

I like it enough to keep it, for now at least (assuming that Sideshow can help me out with a replacement trooper). But when Aragorn is ready to ship, if money is tight, this will be one of the first things to go on the block.
