First, let me say that I love this piece, and I already have mine ordered, but I was on another forum today, and someone pointed something out that was kind of a "Doh!" moment.
Notice the tracks for R2 and 3PO? Where are the tracks for the troopers??

Haha good point, although really never thought of it so it doesn't matter to me. I'd expect the droids (who should way somewhat more than a ST) to leave tracks more than a ST would.

Man that's a nice piece. Really glad I ordered it now
I just noticed that the sand carries over to the sides of the base. The base is completely covered by the sand texture and there's no border like the SS/Weta bases, for example. Interesting.

I think this is going to be a feature of this line. Slugorama is the same, and the Obirama actually also seems to have a plain circular footprint underneath all the spewing lava.
It's nice and unobtrusive, and yet it keeps the line's identity. I wouldn't be against a "baseless" sculpt (like the Spidey vs. Venom vs. Sandman dio) if the subject matter demanded it, but for now, I like it that they're all of a piece.
As for the trooper footprints, it's an aesthetic choice I'm glad they made. It would really look a mess if they included all the prints going to and fro the pod and trampling the sand around it...
Still, I'm miffed I never remembered to save the "before" pics from Sideshow's site. I usually always did that with my preorders, but SDCC overwhelmed me to a point...

I cancelled my original order and placed a new order with my reward points.
Not a bad idea. I've got enough if I wanted to do that I could just about get it for free. I'm saving mine though for something else down the road.
That would be nice.
