Sixx--Julius basically paints himself, so you just need black paint, brown paint and size 000 paintbrush. The only hard part to painting him are the eyeballs

Here is a photo of the Caesar cast.

Awesome, and looking forward to your work. Remember that you can use a real human head as a base. Angel was the one who came up with that idea! :1-1:

For instance, this is the guy under Doctor Maximus:

Oh snap. I can never tell these photos from each other from imageshack until I post them. Let me look for the right photo:

Also I am very very excited to hear about your General Ursus. He's such a handsome gorilla.

Here's my General Ursus photo from last year. Obviously the horses are not ready yet, so I made do with a panda. What I would really love to do is take a photo of the good General with my favorite couple--perhaps have him over for lunch or dinner. I have the 1:6 utensils, bottles of wine and goblets--just need plates and furniture. Someday. I almost bought a Barbie dinner table set for six but talked myself out of it.

Jess,

is the General a Hot Toys, or a custom piece. It looks great!
Do you have a sculpt of the mighty General?

Do any of you guys have a painted frontline ape I can see a picture of. I noticed the eyes look sleepy, and I want to see if I can work with it, or they need modding..

Thank you..

That is Hot Toys General Ursus. If you can only afford one ape for now, he's the one to get. You will not be disappointed. His sculpt is stunning.

I think the Frontline gorilla has one sleepy eye if I recall correctly. I never bought one, but I know that Matt Sotis told me he modified the eye. If you look at the hunt scene, you will note that the hunt leader has one sleepy eye.

Glad you liked it. It was a major effort, as it took 2.5 hours to put on the makeup. Once the makeup is on, it's also a major effort to remove it (like 2 hours), so I prefer to keep it on as long as possible. I always feel sad to remove it. It's very physically taxing, as I also don't eat all day--just suck up some liquid nutrition. :monkey4

Funny thing is, I actually slept in full makeup once (took a nap in the middle of the day), to see how it would feel when I woke up. I was wondering if I took a nap, and woke up, would I freak out when I woke up thinking I had become an ape? Unfortunately, it didn't happen the way I was hoping it would happen. It was very difficult to fall asleep in the first place with the latex ears covering my ears--I had to sleep on my back facing up, and not my preffered method of sleeping curled up on my side, because the glue/latex ears tugged on my skin if I put any weight on them. Oh well. At least I tried.

I will probably wear my own foam latex this coming April for Wondercon. :panic: I'm going to see if I will be brave enough to ask our Pakistani neighbors if I could borrow their rabbit for some photographs on that day. They walk their rabbit around on a leash and I think it would be freaking hilarious if I had a videotape/photographs of me walking a rabbit around on a leash dressed up in full ape gear. :lol

Also---very very excited as I am going to meet up with one of my ape friends who will also be in ape gear at Wondercon!! Oh joy!! For the first time ever, I will see another ape and not just my own reflection in the mirror. We are going to play it by ear, but I thought it would be cool also to get some photos of us riding a cable car. That may be difficult though, as we will be going out of our comfort zone and into the real world. Have you ever set foot in a place and all eyes were on you? Everything becomes slow motion, and you can hear your heart beating between your ears--it's a very freaky thing. That's what happened the last time I was in full ape gear and I had to accompany my girlfriend to an In and Out Burger joint because she was starving. I ordered a chocolate milkshake and couldn't even pretend to drink it. It was a very awkward and unpleasant feeling.

It was sculpted by Jim "Eydylhands" Maddox to reflect the sleepy eyed gorilla in Planet.

Jess, have you gained any progress on the HT face plates idea? Or maybe a 1:6 urko?

Angel, heads are mounted and I'll have pix soon. I may have to have you paint the other two assemblytans so that they all match. If you have time and I can afford it.

Later, apes!!!

Hey IM! If you look at the Hunt scene you will see that sleepy-eyed gorilla on horseback.

And no...I have not made any progress ape-wise. I am really dreading my 1:1 sewing!! This project has been riding my back like a rabid monkey.

Ironman,

Thanks for the photo! Very nice painting I might add. Now that I saw your photo, I'm going to order one today.

Glad to help. I can't take credit for the paint. A fellow from another board I frequented way back when named Phantom11 did that.

Guys, I need alittle help. I'm trying to price out a Planet of the Apes Sideshow General Ursus for my birthday.

What should I expect to pay, ballpark. I've seen the non exclusive around $70.00 plus shipping.. too high?

Thanks..

I think $70 might be able to get you a new exclusive version with the submachine gun.

I would think you could score a brand new Ursus (non-exclusive) for $45-$55.

I would think a used Ursus for $35ish.

Do you ever monitor eBay? Those are my ballpark guesses.

Thank you for that offer :). I will be in touch tomorrow. I just want to see whats out there. No problem on not having a box, but will it come with stand, etc..?
