Congrats there Pompiato.

Anyone working on any projects?

IM- I never got those pictures you promised or those figures. Don't worry about them now. I'll be moving on.

Angel thank you for your attempt, but the pictures were just too small for me to use. Thanks again for following through.

Can't apologize enough. With all the doc appointments and therapy for my back i completely forgot. I'll send them this week, use them when you will.
Sorry.

Hey Sticks! I'm working on a Mystique outfit for Charles Hughey and a pair of boots for his Mathilda. Hopefully I can crank out a pair of real leather boots. The outfit has been giving me grief but you know I am not one to give up. It's halfway done. It's being hand-sewn.

Sixx--I usually pluck off the heads off of the figures, since I have always baked mine. I have heard of the boil method and tried it with the bake and bend sculpey...I wasn't impressed with the results. Perhaps because the bake and bend sculpey is just not the best anyway. I have a small convection oven I use for my foam latex and clay projects.

Jessica - Would you mind sharing pics when your done? I've always admired your work. You're so talented.

Angel, any plans on ever completing Lady Liberty? I still remember your story about having to carry her across town while everyone stared at you. :lol It'd be a shame to go through all that trouble and never get her done.

Guys I took the boys to go indoor sky diving today. It was really fun and I'm very proud that they did well even though Ethan was a bit scared. Of course they want to go again. Anyhoo...we were hungry after the adventure, and they wanted to go to In and out Burger. I just couldn't bring myself back into that damned burger joint after I was traumatized when I was in full makeup. I know they wouldn't recognize me...but just that it was so unnerving to be stared at by everyone in the place--I could hear my heart beating between my ears. It was so traumatic I never want to be in that same spot again. If my girlfriend weren't hungry we wouldn't have gone at all...but she was starving.

I'll post pics of Mystique when I'm done even though she's not an ape because after all, I am a chimp you know!!

Stickman - I think about working on Lady Liberty all the time, but I just never seem to find the energy from within or desire. It holds true for so many other projects too. I look at my Kiss Apes everyday and wonder when I'll actually finish the four of them. Low energy and low desire = unfinished projects.

My dining room and its table was just filled with my many projects in my heyday. That certainly made working on projects very easy back then. There was never a need to dig things out of the basement; everything just sat conveniently on the table beckoning to me. I used to stroll into the dining room and work on stuff during TV commercials and often found myself wrapped up for hours at a time working on things. Ahhh the good old days...

I started watching "Octaman" yesterday. It was awful; I had to stop 20 minutes into it. What did you think IM?

We ended up watching "Rosemary’s Baby" featuring the good Dr. Zaius/Maurice Evans. That’s a great flick. :wave

Jessica, can you elaborate further? What happened last time besides people starring at you? They most likely were all bewildered, which I can understand. It's not everyday that one is fortunate enough to witness the awesomeness of an original Simian from Planet of the Apes. Also, I can't wait to see your creation. :)

Angel, I hear you ol' buddy. What you need is encouragement and motivation. I understand that it gets hard sometimes when you spend all your energy on something for a group to enjoy and the reward seems to only last a brief moment or at least a comment or two before fizzling into oblivion. I also understand that there will always be the individuals that want, want, want, take, take, take. :monkey4 But then you need to ask yourself, who are you really doing it for, Us or yourself? It's only more difficult when the answer is both, because you need both and not one over the other. So if it's any consolation my friend, I would love to see you finish your projects. Your Slave Wagon, Tribunal Scene, and Lady Liberty have all been huge contributing factors for my continued devotion to this hobby. For that good Sir, I thank you. :wave

No, its the least I can do. I thought I had posted that I hadn't any luck with the pix, but the figures are totally my bad. Not trying to make excuses but things are just nosediving so quickly. My account got hacked for $1200 a couple weeks back and I just found out this morning that it got hit again for just under $3000.
Life SUCKS!!!

LOL, it definitely requires a LOT of sticktuitiveness. I remember seeing it when I was younger and, even though its campy, it was Rick Baker's early work. And it did have Julius the jailer in it! Yes, very ridiculous, but hell, I sat through Prophecy with Talia Shire, Robert Foxworth and Armand Assante too.

Thought of you the other day too Angel. Can't remember where my wife had dragged me but there was a miniature, I'd say 5-6 ft Statue of Liberty and I actually looked at the base hoping to see an ape or two.

Another reason not to worry about it. You have enough on your plate already. Get your side situated first, That is by far more important. Good luck Steve.

Here is an item that I have been wanting to put together for awhile! I still have to paint the hands and add some weapons. Angel painted the boots, sent me the jumpsuit with custom ribbons as pockets, and the two types of clay mixed together to make the neck post. Thanks Angel!:clap

Nice job, Angel. Those boots are the ones I prefer to the ones they used in the movies. Sometimes customs just take a long time. Sometimes it takes years. My SS Zira needs a paint touch up on the hair...I still need to paint gloss on her eyes, and definitely she needs a more movie accurate outfit. Have I ever really completed a whole figure?

Sticks - Thanks for the encouragement. I need a ape support group to push me along... otherwise I'm just a spectator.

That's a pretty good size statue Ironman! By chance was that statue in a mall near a restaurant?

KFog -Thanks for posting those pix. My gosh - I must've did that a long time ago. I don't even recall doing that for you anymore. My memory sucks. Are you going to take the easy road and just paint the hands flat black? I did that to a number of my gorillas instead of "hairing" them up and I think it looks fine. Our friend, Dr. Zaius bought at least one jumpsuit off of me now that I think of it. I think he bought a yellow one with ribbon pockets. I wonder how he's been doing. Haven't heard from him in a long time.

Jessica - I'm sure you have, but you're asking the wrong person. I'd really like to see your market scene and the operation room get finished. The detail you put into that coat rack, fruit and those leather headstraps comes to mind... it was amazing and sticks with me to this day.

Hi Angel! I noticed a close up of Julius hands when Taylor tied them to the bars of his cage and they looked a grayish color. I think that I will aim for that particular color insted of flat black. What kind of paint would you use for the hands? Thanks buddy, Kent.

I got tired of them gathering dust, so I crumpled them up and tossed them in the garbage (the market stall and the wall with the bars for the laboratory scene). I still have the fruits and baskets...and also the operating tables...and the beginnings of that coat rack...not really happy with the way the projects were going nowhere. We were having company and my bedroom was a disgrace. I want to rebuild, but make them collapsible. I was able to do that once with a really large sailplane--why not a diorama? Plus I really love the simplicity of Stick's paper mache. That's just ingenius!

KFog - I'm partial to acrylic paints. Rather than using a grayish paint maybe you can locate a grayish wash. I used a brown wash on the Sideshow hands to darken them up and then I painted the fingernails black. This gorilla (and Julius) are the only exceptions, all of my other gorillas have solid black hands.

Let's see more once of your Conquest gorilla once you get that paint on his hands and a weapon in his paws. :hi5:

Hi Angel! Would the grayish wash be located with the paints? I can check out Michaels for it. I think the enamel idea for the nails is perfect! Also, did you use black enamel for the Gorilla hands? Let me recap in order what paints to look for! Black paint and grayish wash for Gorilla hands and let's add what type of red paint that you used for the boots. That should do it!

By the way! Please tell me that you still have the tribunal scene in tact! What a cool set of items! The Gorilla in the middle looks to fit perfectly because the alterations that you made fits to him being a higher ranked counselman like the orangutans. Later brother, Kent.:wave
