Hey Guy's,
I am a member and an ADMIN over on OSR(one sixth republic) on FACEBOOK. I done or really tried to do business with a JON TILSON, his name on SIDESHOW FREAKS is ..........JEEPINDUDE".......I bout a deadite ash figure from him with beto head, and a banner body. This as close to a month ago. He has deleted his acct. with OSR, no need really as he is banned for life. I cannot message him as he has me blocked. My last post to him was "i never got the tracking info". So one month, no communication, delete of acct. and blocking me, it is safe to say he is ripping me off. I did pay as a gift, a few people vouched for him, still no excuse, but he did seem like a stand up guy, well he really is a spineless nothing, my fault for trusting him. He seen a great chance to rip me off and took it. I have been a member on here for 6 years with a stand up reputation, I have done business with all the well known customizers, and dozens and dozens of other members here. PLEASE heed this warning. These types rarely ever scam and ripoff just once. He has got me for about $400+ .....here are some pics of the items. Please spread the word about this JEEPINDUDE, AKA, REAL NAME JON TILSON.......the ripoff scammer......anybody has info. they can help with please send me a message, all info. will be 100% confidential. THANKS TO MY FELLOW COLLECTING MEMBERS

That sounds awful. This is definitely a situation where you should PM Dave or the mods about it. I'm not sure if there's anything you can do to get your money back. But, maybe they can help to open up communication with him, or at least ban him so he doesn't scam someone else.

Sucks indeed. Keyword is 'gift' here, so even if he had not vanished your money is gone.

A general question though, if you are worried about being scammed (for instance, unable to contact a member for a long time), what can you do? I feel kinda uneasy splattering member data all over in a new topic, but at the same time would welcome all the information other members might have.

Saw your post on facebook. Hope you get your money back somehow. Like some mentioned above, you should PM some of the mods. Do whatever you can that would help your case.

In the future, link your paypal payment to your credit card and make payment that way. Even if you make a payment and pay a paypal fee, if the seller ships you an empty box with delivery confirmation, you're screwed. Paypal fees alone won't protect you. The seller will just say "I have proof of delivery and the buyer is just trying to steal the statue/figure". Paypal will side with the seller because they don't know who's telling the truth but the seller can provide proof of delivery. Same holds true on all pre-orders. If it takes months to receive a PO, paypal protection stops after 45 days (unless they increased it recently). So, if the seller doesn't deliver on your merch after 45 days, paying paypal fees is a waste of money because they will deny your complaint of not receiving the goods because it is outside their 45 day window of protection.

So, your credit card company is the best way to go. They have a fraud department. Call that department and file a complaint with them. Save all emails or documents and give it to them. They will conduct and investigation. They will make an honest effort to find out the truth and usually protect you because you are their client. A quick example or 2. I was traveling far out of town when my clutch went out on my car. I went to the nearest mechanic shop I could find. They said they can fix the car by the next day. I got a hotel room and waited. Next day, they were done and billed me $400. I completed my trip and after a few days went home. A week later, the same problem. My clutch gave out. Since I was at home, had the car towed to my mechanic. He said they put the part in the wrong way, that's why the clutch gave out. I was obviously pissed. Called my CC company and filed a complaint. After contacting my mechanic and getting a copy of the bill, they issued me a complete refund. Also, when I first started collecting, I pre-ordered a statue on ebay (about a year in advance) and when it was starting to ship, I contacted the seller to find out when mine would ship. No answer. He shut down his account and disappeared. Paypal told me they couldn't help me. My 45 days of seller protection had lapsed and there was nothing they could do for me. Called the fraud dept of my CC company and filed a complaint. They said they would investigate. 3 days later, they forced paypal to issue a full charge back. I got my money.

Now, if you didn't use a credit card, call the sellers local police department and file a complaint with them. Usually, the sellers start to panic when the cops become involved and will issue a refund to make them go away. Good luck. I hate to see honest people get screwed over by d'bags like this.
