US scientists are attempting to find out whether all of humanity is currently living a Matrix-style computer simulation being run on supercomputers of the future.

According to researchers at the University of Washington, there are tests that could be done to begin to work out whether we are in fact real, or merely a simulation created by a futuristic android on its lunch break.

Aside from the rather mind-boggling proposition that we may be part of a computer simulation, another researcher pointed out that this would bring up the possibility of inter-universe computer platforms, and the potential to communicate across these.

If this happened to be true it really means we are being watched, all the time. Actually reminds me of that South Park episode where Earth was just a reality TV show.

I can just imagine how much Apple will charge for this and how many Apple nerds will stand in line for it.

interesting... i'm up for it. we are a young species, and i support anything that id related to what if research, exploring and trying to decipher and understand the universe and ask things in it.

i would like to think if this was a simulation, they could do a hell of a lot better than what they have achieved...

This is the second time today that I've had my existence called into question on this forum. Man, if I'm not real, the party begins today.

what was the fist one?

well remember how in the matrix they talk about creating a perfect world at first but humans were not able to adapt to it, I could see that being implemented here

Interesting article, man. But, it seems like an enormously ambitious project that's too far out of reach to accomplish. After all, they've only managed to simulate about one-trillionth of a meter :monkey1. I wonder how much they're being funded for this.

Too much.

They should be using that money to figure out if God exists (because what's the ****ing difference?) Then we can find out if pornstars really are happier than normal people. They really need to get their priorities straight.
