no freaks party.... :panic: :slap

Yeah it will be awesome to meet up with fellow freaks and have dinner and drinks as well. Good times.

Well since it seems to be that people are getting into preview night, that would be great if we could sneak in...get in also :monkey3

I'll have to wait until winter to take precepts then...

No more drinking after I take the five precepts. :)

SDCC is pretty much the one time of year when I do drink...I'm pretty dry the rest of the year.

Is there a time period you have to wait from when you had your last drink and when you can take the precepts?

Nope, and the best part of precepts is that you can "slip," so we'll see how it goes. I was dry at CV and found myself to be a bit more reserved than I should have been. Plus, I have to sit at retreats for at least four days before I can apply to take precepts anyway, so...

Hey Im looking for a hotel. Should I book thru comic-con or is it just better if I pay the premium. I want to pay around $250 tops.. but by the looks of it I cant find anything under $400 a night...

Anyone planning on splitting rooms?

I would book now to be safe....you could always try later through Comic-con and if you get a better deal, cancel your previous reservation. But if you thought getting tix was a headache...getting a hotel through comic con isn't going to be any better. And if you want anything near the convention center, plan to pay crazy prices.

Yeah there are "services" that are offering a non-refundable deposit for the stay if I book now. They want roughly $450 per night for the Marriott. Its an ok Hotel and its close by ... but for those prices Id expect something similar to Encore in vegas. Ill try my best, would be sweet if someone else from Calgary was going.

You can find cheaper motels (in the $250 range) as long as you are willing to be further away. There are a couple...Best Western and Holiday Inn that I think are around 1.5 miles from the convention center. You are also paying double their normal rate during SDCC.

Yeah, if you can get something now do it! Seriously, Jen is right as bad as today was the hotel thing is 1,000,000x worse. :lol

I always just find my own hotel, preferably near the tram, and just ride on in in the mornings. Way cheaper and less stressful.

Pretty early, it also runs pretty late into the night. I don't remember exactly but I never had a problem getting places on time with the tram.

Yep. ;) You should have seen me at the last two parties I went to recently. Completely out of control. I really do need to quit drinking, but it's a fine line between the fun fury and the "boys gone wild" fury...

So are you fun drinker or angry drinker?

Either way, I need to witness it one of these years.

As far as I know, all close hotels have been completely blocked out by the con, and you can only get in when CCI makes them available on their website. I have tried calling the nearby hotels and they all have told me that they have been completely booked by the con. In 09 I called and got my hotel room (right next to the convention center) and it cost me $1600 for Wed-Sun. Supposedly it should be cheaper when booked through CCI. At this point I'm waiting for CCI to put up their hotel reservations and will cross my fingers that I can get in.
