Well imagine my surprise when I was reading the paper and saw that Seattle has its very own Comic Con - The Emerald City Comic Con....and this is it's fifth year....gee where the hell have I been? Well, I think I'm probably going to go check it out...it will be my very first comic convention...I know it won't even hold a candle to SDCC but atleast I can get my feet wet a little with this one.... Peter Mayhew and Margot Kidder are going to be there...which I guess is cool....I'm a total newbie when it comes to comics so I am imagining this experience to be rather entertaining. Anyone in the Pacific NW area planning to attend????

Sweet, now you can "hang out with a bunch of overweight teens that smell of day old sweat and Doritos"!

I heard that on SNL or 30 Rock and it made me laugh! :D

Oooh, be careful she might Freak Out! :lol :rotfl
I was thinking that exact same thing! :lol Hopefully she will be on some good meds....but then again...a good freak out would bump up the entertainment factor!!

Everytime I think of Comic Conventions I think of Galaxy Quest...that movie cracked me up big time....I'm more interested in observing the people that attend since I know very little of the artists/writers who are going to be there. It will be fun to check it all out...and perhaps learn a thing or two about comics.

Cons are great, you'll see a very diverse mixture of people and Weirdos (ie., Star Trek fans :D). You'll have fun, trust me, although you'd have more fun at SDCC this year with us Freaks!

I always wonder if I'd fit in at a con. I wouldnt call myself a die hard fan, i dont dress up, i dont talk about the movies outside of these forums which even then is pretty minimal. I just like to go out and drink...... Danny, hold me!

Exactly Jen!!!

My first convention was in Denver 2001. Star fest. I was only their for one
day but I had a great time. https://starland.com/sf-sc/sf01/PostConventionReport.htm

They had a guy dressed as Gwen Dimarco to raise funds for breast cancer,he/she was very nice. Some of the stars were okay but I don't
think you should have to pay for autographs from D actors.
Hope you have fun and look out for freebies.

It's only $12/per day...I'm thinking I'll check it out Saturday......My first CC! I'm interested to see what collectibles will be available....hopefully I will find some nice pieces to add to my collection...and who knows...maybe someday down the line SSC will grace us with their presence.

Thanks for the link. There are some actors from Farscape coming to the Seattle CC....never have seen the show so I have no idea who they hell they are....and I agree about autographs...I would NEVER pay for one personally - don't care that much about autographs (especially a D list actor)....though I suppose I may be a hypocrite because I was a little psyched to get the autographed soundtrack to 300....but that was free....free is good, if I have to pay for it, no thanks.
Hope they do have some decent freebies...that would be a nice bonus...I'm mostly looking forward to seeing all the fans who dress up....that's a little over the top for me, but I will enjoy watching others in all their die-hard glory.
