I decided to keep this as it looks awesome. I got my invoice today and I was still charged $58 for shipping. Does not seem to be cheaper to ship. Now that is annoying.

Do you have another PF to compare it to? That was one of the questions I had. How much cheaper is shipping for Fett compared to say Luke/Yoda?

Thanks T. Save me having to look up invoices but its always been around that price and maybe more for the likes of the Hulk.

I was charged the same shipping as previous PF`s.

That's crazy, as this is apparently half the weight as other PFs at about 7.5 lbs total (the Fett himself is less than 2 lbs... it's the base that is the bulk of the weight).

I think SS should be more careful in what they say - obviously we run with this stuff:

Ex. "Perfection takes time," "save you on shipping"

I may have missed it, but I interpreted both of those statements as being more tongue-in-cheek than literal.

:dunno

So not only did those who kept their Exclusive Fett PF orders pay the original $325 asking price for the cheaper, lighter ABS statue... they ended up paying the usual shipping costs too? Nice.

Alright, alright, who had post 6 in the raffle? Irish with post 6 for the win :rotfl

Sorry, not to make light of the situation, but KNEW Irish was going to weigh in - as well he should.

But Sideshow will play word semantics now: "and not quite so heavy – it may save you a little on shipping."

By using the word may, as long as 1 customer saves at least 1 penny, they didn't lie :monkey2

As Homer would say, "DOH!"

I think shipping costs are based more on the dimensions of the package than the weight. Could be wrong though.

How big is the box. The picture of the box that I saw it looked really small but mine hasnt shipped yet so I dont know.

I agree that they just shouldn't have said it. It was a lighthearted attempt to put a positive spin on a potentially inflammatory announcement, and it backfired by adding even more negative comments and responses from the collectors who despise the choice that was made.

And I have also had experiences where shipping is based on dimensions rather than weight, and I have been charged for, say, thirty pounds when the package really only weighed 12 or 13 but it was large. But the Fett box doesn't seem too big, and I'm not sure whether or not it is an oversized package subject to dimensional shipping charges. With USPS, the length plus girth needs to be more than 84 inches, and I don't think the Fett box is that large.

EDIT: The Fett box is 13x11x22. Total would be 70 inches, well below the 84" mark which would make it a USPS oversized package and raise the charges.

WOW! No wonder I can't afford PF's. I can't even pay for some 12" figures which cost less than that shipping price! Sorry you have to pay so much, that would just kill me!

The weight probably doesn't have to much to do with shipping cost anymore since UPS and Fedex have switched to the dim weight system. You could in theory still have a box that weighs 7 lbs but measures out to be 100lbs dim weight.

I ran the weight and dimensions through FedEx's shipping calculator.

To ship a 22x11x13 package weighing 15 pounds from Sideshow to me is estimated to cost $7.99.

Shipping a 22x11x13 package weighing 16 pounds would cost $8.04.

A 17 pound package would cost $8.13.

An 18 pound package would cost $8.24.

A 19 pound package would cost $8.40.

A 20 pound package would cost $8.54.

Now, I really don't know how much a solid polystone Fett would have weighed, so I don't know how far to go with this, but I can tell you two things:

#1. Sideshow's guess was proven correct--I definitely did save money on shipping charges because of the reduced weight.

#2. The savings were definitely so small as to be inconsequential.

Tom what was the shipping on yours if you don't mind me asking and did you get the # you were looking for?:D
