Currently there's a petition in the Aliens thread for a dedicated Aliens/Predator/Terminator forum that will make searching for info in threads easier than having one enormous thread full of over 300+ pages. I have suggested this to Dave but he wants to know if they should be broken down by licence or if they should be categorized under manufacturer Such as Hot Toys or Medi. He wants to know what the masses want so let your vote and voice be heard!

I think a Hot Toys/Medicom forum would be the best way to go. So yes, count me in for wanting a dedicated forum for them.

I think it'd be better to have License based forums, that way if you wanted to look at Terminator stuff, for example, you're not bouncing between the Sideshow Terminator section and a Hot Toys Terminator section. I think what's nice is if you're looking to talk about a license, it's nice to just go to one area dedicated to it.

If there is a new Aliens forum, it won't get rid of that one enormous thread and make anything easier to find. New threads could be started in the general forum all the time, but people like posting in the official Aliens thread. In order to make things easier to find, you'd have to break the monster thread up or lock it and force people to start making new original threads or use the ones that already exist regardless of whether it's in the General Forum or in a new proposed Aliens forum.
A new forum won't clarify anything, so I'll refrain from voting.

With the explosion of Terminator threads this week, for example, it might be easier if related threads were easily avalable under a specific area rather than a blanket General forum which is kind of messy.

Whedonville, Marvel, LOTR and Star Wars have their own forums, why not other licenses?

Traffic. Aliens is busy now, but that's because there's three new aliens figures out now. In a while, there'll be traffic for the Aliens warrior and the Power loader, why can't new threads be started for them in the General forum?
Take aliens, predator and terminator from the general, then what's left? A few dead licenses such as the X-Files, POTA, a few licenses that still have life in them; James Bond, Rambo, Musicians, Robocop, a few non Sideshow/Hot Toys/Medicom licenses, and not much else.
LOTR always had their own forum, but the traffic has died down since the Weta statue line discontinued. Star Wars has to have it's own because it would dominate the general one. Whedonville was short lived, it died when the lines died. Marvel has less traffic then Star Wars, but it would still dominate the general forum.
Perhaps Aliens deserves it's own forum because of it's current traffic, but I don't see the same amount of traffic in the future.

I'd say leave it the way it is. Too many categories would make it like that clusterfruck rebAlscum.com

So what you are saying is that all the dead licenses, which is just about EVERYTHING except for Marvel and Star Wars, should be relegated to one general forum of DEFUNCT LICENSES NOBODY TALKS ABOUT ANYMORE.

I think Galactiboy and Ironman will vouch for a POTA thread. Buffy and Whedon fans will still keep that forum active and I agree with Maulfan that licenses like Aliens, Predator, Terminator, Rambo, etc. deserve a unified forum that covers all topics of those licenses.

NO I didn't say everything except Marvel and Star Wars is a dead license, you did.
What I'm saying is if something is dominating the traffic on the general forum, then it deserves it's own forum. I don't think Aliens, Predator, and Terminator traffic is dominating the general forum.

I think if "Whedonville" has its own section, then certainly Aliens/Predator and maybe Terminator should have its own as well.

Agreed. What makes Whedon more important than franchises like Aliens or Predator or Terminator? There is so much more discussion than just the products. Take a look in the General section and we see several polls going on for Aliens and Predator and discussions about the films. It would help to categorize discussion between different topics rather than lump everything into one official thread.

I have to say, even though the figure quanitities may be high now for things like Aliens and Terminator, there is a massive cult fandom for these films and I see a brotherhood forming in those threads of true fans, the ammount of custom work and bonding over the figures and the films is very positive and whether the figures die down and become less abundant at a time or not, I think the discussion will be as heavy, and by having a separate forum, then you can do things like a Ripley only thread and a Alien warrior thread that more effectively organizes the chat and makes it easier for you to read about and discuss what you want to. I love the Alien Terminator threads, but they're so full of chatter, you can spend a long time sifting through posts to find discussion you went looking to participate in. A dedicated forum for popular topics would be beneficial to the forum community I think, and I don't see what the harm would be of having more and more forums, you just go to the ones you like and are interested and ignore the rest. If the organizational structure is done right, you shouldn't have any issue finding what you want.

one thing for sure, Dave should take out that military and history figure forum...its not part of Sideshow anymore...anyway those guys hang out at the onesixth forum.

That's very true. Let us have that space.

That's the kind of thing the General forum should remain for, for everything else that doesn't fall into a specific license or category. This would be a good opportunity for Dave to organize and restructure the forums more efficiently. :lol

I voted for the Alien/Pred/Term forum, because that is type specific, regardless to companies.
But, I will go with whatever happens of course...if indeed something does....

Ever.... :lol
