Okay, I love this forum and the passion of it's members, but I'm getting very very tired of all the Kurganites and petitioners throwing their flashy, gaudy, huge-fonted, thrice double damned agendas in my face everytime they post! Really, this place is starting to feel like a political fundraiser, with the candidate's name and face plastered EVERYWHERE!!

Now, I live in Manhattan, so I'm no stranger to endless strings of advertising blasting in my face wherever I go, but I'd appreciate it deeply if everyone could just cut the rhetoric in half. I'm not asking that it all go away, but if everyone would turn off the blowhorn for Kurgan/Apes/New Bodies occassionally, I would be much oblidged.

Now, I'm either going to get flamed or a lot of people are going to agree with me. Most likely it will be an even mix of both. I want to open this for discussion, but I don't want to be divisive. As I said, I'm very fond of everyone here. It's a public forum and everyone has a right to say and do as they please. This isn't a command (I wouldn't presume), but it is a plea from a fellow fan. These things are important to me to. I'd love to see a Medieval Kurgan with a new body covered in finely tailored everything with a super-real yet finely painted portrait and multiple accessories in a box proclaiming the endurance of all our favorite lines.

I'm just very weary of the unending stream of flashy advertising. It's as bad as being in a site with a million sponsors plastered everywhere. It's just very overwhelming....

I just think your post (what you are actually presenting to the conversation) should be bigger than your signature (your gaudy advertisement).

Thanks. (runs for cover, hugging his poor head.)

Hell No!!!:D
*please don't ban me, and yes dave, I still believe in faeries.

Doesn't bother me really but yes it can get a bit much at times...

However I'm afraid you have done nothing but invite the crusaders to crash through this door too... because you just know they will. :D

In fact I think I can hear them coming now! Bar the doors!!!

ANDY!!!! Lend an ear to our warcries! Let the line be complete!

And that's part of the problem. Some of us need to show some restraint. In our zeal to voice our opinion (repeatedly, unendingly, and without mercy), a few of us are becoming a nuisance. It's ridiculous! And why? Not to convince anybody of the rightiousness of their cause. I think it's well established that many of us would like to see great lines like Highlander, Apes, Buffy, Live By The Sword, etc. continue unabated. But the endless stream of Kurgan this or that or whathaveyou in giant red letters invading every other post is annoying. And you know what? I think it's meant to be.

I don't think there can be any other reason for introducing a nonsequitar about the same thing over and over in various unassociated threads is really meant to be anything but obnoxious. Like Andy said. It feels like spam after a while.

See? Nothing to add to the conversation at hand. I was hoping some of the Kurganites would chime in with something constructive, but I guess I should have expected them to play the same record over and over.

Really, it's gotten out of hand, guys. Everyone gets the message. I'm numb with all the F'n Kurgan references.

Sorry I am a wee bit zealous at the moment having just joined Krusade and watching Highlander for the first time in about 12 years.

Yeah I know Mikey, but I try to look at it like one of those cartoons -- you're watching it minding your own business when a horde of crusaders run by raising swords kicking up dust clouds, then exit frame... then show up again later. Silly but innocuous, hopefully...

Anyway that's my .02

I see what you're saying.

Imagine you're watching your favorite television show. Now imagine that each commercial break consists of the same commercial played five times in a row. Welcome to the Sideshow Freaks board.

Reminds me of Capital One... and yeah, it can get old...

here is the deal though Mikey:

You have an awful lot of people who feel the Highlander line has been abandoned. I have never seen a word one way or the other from anyone in Sideshow regarding the status of the Highlander line. Perhaps if someone would chime in from Sideshow the rederick would die down a bit.

The style of the posts (language, large fonts, etc) are just in fun and are not calcualted to annoy but to be in the spirit of what we are trying to accomplish. If anything their intent is to entertain and inform. I myself was entertained by them and wanted to join in. Its like putting on a costume. Fun.

I can see your point. So what would you have the Kurganites do?

The Krusaders all seem like cool guys, and I know they're just having fun with it, but yeah, it can get annoying at times.

I think some of your upset is unwarranted. Sure, I have to agree that the 'cause' has been highlighted. Rightly so. There is no reason why Sideshow shouldn't produce this figure. The Medieval f'un Kurgan. Their reason is that it would be too costly. That may be so, but they haven't pulled the plug on the more expensive LotR figures have they? That being the case, we need to hear a more reasonable explanation from Sideshow. That reason is suspiciously absent. Many here have said they will pay the higher price, so where is the Medieval f'un Kurgan? Once it is produced the swelling tide will subside.

Also, the Kurgan threads are well enough titled for you to discern the threads you are more likely to view, so don't read them. The fact that there are now numerous signatures of similar ilk is up to the individual. An individual that posts often has his/her signature viewed in accord. Should signatures be banned? Threads abound on the same subject. How many Batman or Superman threads have there been of late? Something which many collectors are interested in. Should they be banned also, or severley edited?

I can get upset and angry from time to time too, or maybe that should read as annoyed, for whatever reason. Sometimes I have to bite the bullet, sometimes roll over and lay down or take a stand. Sometimes it's just a matter of changing my view or opinion, and the annoyance goes away, even though the cause/source doesn't. Sometimes its just a matter of 'if you can't beat them, join them.'

I can see your frustration Mikey as our Kurgan Krusade seems to be everywhere at the moment. Most of our posts however are in the sandbox where they obviously belong. I know here and there things are posted in other sections and we have a thread going in the liscense request section and we just did a Krusader introduction thread, but most of the really crazy stuff is in the sandbox. Of course, maybe I don't notice all the extra stuff since I am part of the Krusade and used to seeing it. Finally I would like to add that if after a few years of Sideshow doing 12" Star Wars figures, if they leave what people percieve to be a major character unmade, do you really think people wouldn't be doing the same thing, at least to an extent.

It is the complete lack of closure, we are talking about. Bannister is right. You would see a similiar phenom if any major license left an important character unmade? What if Sideshow never made an ANH Vader? Thats pretty much what happened with Medieval Kurgan.

But Sideshow still has the license (as far as I am aware). It seems a small thing to just acknowledge that there is a gap that needs to be filled. I believe the lackluster sales in the Highlander are a direct result of this. Who wants Ben Kenobi if they believe Darth Vader will never be made?

it is indeed spam since sideshow going to take into fact that only about 15 posts out of all 155 pages are actually really relavant and effective to the topic.
As long as it stays in the "sand box" lol.

i mean, its like spam mail to my inbox as well because I get thread updates of the kurgan topics every 2 seconds LOL

but I don';t think putting a restriction would serve any better purpose.
maybe a few suggestions and remarks about the annoyance might quiet it down naturally:D
