I was just thinking how it looked like someone used hot chocolate for the weathering... it's really awful in the spots where it's supposed to be settled in. I assume that was done by hand as the streaks on the chest are more uniform and less wet looking.

I'll definitely try and remove the weathering with some alcohol and if that doesn't work I'll go over it with something less crappy looking. Sideshow, always gotta drop the ball somewhere. But overall this figure looks great and the weathering should at least be easy enough to sort out.

I'm not a fan of them at all... I much prefer the old circular stands. These are thicker and look cheap. If Sideshow was including a diorama piece with each one like the Hoth figures or Scout Troopers I'd understand, but even those are kind of ridiculous as you have this cool diorama piece and then black plastic in the middle?

I really wish they would have included a desert overlay for the base like they did with the Hot Toys Sandtrooper. They did it with the Hoth figures, so it's odd that C3PO comes with a plain base. Even having it printed would have been better than nothing.

I would have liked a larger than standard sized base included with 3PO. This way you could display him with R2. It also would have helped with sales of R2, although I'm not sure how many would want 3PO sans R2...

I have a couple of base options that I'll try. I have a couple of the old SS round bases with the sand cover. I also picked up a couple of the X-wing Luke bases that should work well next to each other.

Had to step out for about 20 minutes and missed the FedEx guy. Oh well, I'll look forward to opening 3PO tomorrow.

So after posing C-3PO around for a bit, I love the paint, hate the weathering, think the lighted eyes are well done, think the hands are poorly done, like the exclusive even though I think mine is broken (gold piece separated from the wiring piece), don't like the cheap looking sculpted mid-section wires and overall would say it's a good alternative to the Tamashii figure. It's not flawless, but it's not terrible. I'd rate it a 7 out of 10 as my initial impression.

My exclusive shoulder/arm has the shoulder pad separated as well...I thought mine was broken too. Do the thumbs on yours bend at a strange angle?

I used those for a little while for the Tama 3PO and R2. Looked nice to me.

I since switched it up to using the death star grates even though I like the desert theme better for these two. Just having the two together is so great. Happy everyone is getting this character in their collections finally.

I found this video review...

Pretty telling when the reviewer says he is sending his back for QC flaws. That chipped paint on the chin and poor weathering is the reason I went with the Tamashii one. Another fail for Sideshow.

I may have to break out the HT stands and put them all together like that... so far I've just be recycling the Sideshow Stands for consistency.

I wish I had more of the sand-top bases, they look great. It's too bad Sideshow stopped making them and doesn't sell them separately.

Because they're small, and you might lose one. :lecture

Got to work early today, and had time to kill. So I did this really quick. :wave

:drool

Thanks, Rook! I was thinking of doing a similar shot yesterday, but my cat gets too excited and wants to get up close and personal with certain figures. If she could talk she'd say "I like that wookie." Awesome stuff!

Both setups look fantastic. Can't go wrong with either. Just depends what environment you want to have them on display.

Amazing group shot.

So I looked at my CC statement today and saw that 3PO was charged on Friday, but the $10 for the packout was not charged until yesterday. Ugh, that explains the delay in getting any shipping notice. Why not charge that all at once? :slap Come on SSC! :lol

Agreed. Only took the sand bases away to use them for Chewie and Han, really wanted Chewie to be able to stand tall in the detolf and he fits perfectly on those circle bases.

Yeah thumbs are in strange directions on mine too and it looks like they can't be corrected. Are they supposed to look that way or did we get duds? Mine also had a broken piston on the left arm. Looks like there are a lot of qc issues on this guy.

That video was interesting, the arms look a little large and the cylinders really stick out.

I don't get why the figure isn't shiny in a kind of vac-metallized way - surely 3PO is always shiny underneath any weathering and dirt?
