This video give much more depth and volume to those 12". I'm even more impatient to have them in hand.

Thanks for posting the link! Some of this video looks like a full size costume/prop exhibit.

I have to say that 3PO looks TONS better in that video than any picture I have seen so far. Looks like real metal. Still not sold on the shade of "gold" -- wish it were just a tad warmer, more orangey -- but he looks great there.

I still notice the C3-Leno issue but video does seem to give a fuller sense of his metallic look and the overall feel of the fig which is looks great. Just want to pick it up and examine it (wish I could have gone to SDCC to see in person.) Color does look a bit lemony in the video, but the lighting is all over the place.

I've done some quick Photoshop image movement and at this point, with the photos available, the 3PO-R2 height ratio seems off. I can't tell if the issue is with one or both characters, but R2 appears too short next to 3PO, which is unfortunate.

Surely these would have been developed with a million reference photos of them side by side. How could the R2 be the same as the Hasbro and Medicomm heights? I can't believe it is possible. It could be distortion in the photos or something. SSC will post a side-by-side soon - the SSC person a few pages back said they would try to.

And that clock (?!) R2 and the Tamashii C3PO together is simply stunning to see. Do the Japanese have better computer screens for viewing movie reference photos?

At this point, that seems to be the only fix. Unless I place him under a nice warm orange lamp.

I wonder what he'd smell like. Actually, scratch that, I know what melting ABS smells like. ;)

It's funny because if you look at the R2 inside the ship he looks smaller than the one in the Tatooine shot

Don't forget also that 3PO is leaning over in the desert shot, which really distorts the relationship. The R2 lean-back isn't terribly significant in lowering his height, but the projection forward of his lower half may also be slightly exaggerated because of it, lending an appearance of even more mass.

All that aside, the figure is quite noticeably shorter than any movie example you will find. :) At the end of the day, later in the year, someone can just put SSC's R2 next to the Taito clock and if it's smaller, it's WRONG.

They could be 100% perfect and we would still find something to**** and moan about :lol

The scale is one of those aspects of the duo that people have been concerned about - ok, moaning about - for years. It seems pretty reasonable to expect their relative size to one another would have been one of the principal design considerations in their development.

It's like they're designed by two completely separate companies, let alone two teams without central project management/oversight.

Not a fan of the painted cables at waist. His finish is amazing as a brushed metallic look, but the color is too dull and doesn't pop. Other than being practically s mallet PF version, I'll be getting him and keeping my Tamashi. Seeing him in person, not the wow factor I got from seeing R2 and even playing with R2!

Thanks for the first person opinion. Interesting that it didn't wow. It seemed in the pics that the sculpted/painted wires looked good, but the high-contrast lighting would have helped make them look batter.

The R2 does look like a home run - if his height ends up okay. Were you able to judge that at all?

This R2 needs to be the right height, no excuses. If anyone saw it in person how did it look width wise, R2 is quite a large rounded barrel robot.

Hard to tell from pics.

Hah! I did the same thing! I am not encouraged... I tried it with a couple different angles too.

I see the problem now SSC R2 is not on wheels that lift him up like the photo plus 3PO is doing and ab crunch forward. that would have given him the right advantage we see him flat on the stand. either way im not to picky with the height it's close enough to not bother me much. it's not like 1/2 inch more difference. but like i told SSC if they made him an even 7 it would have been enough. since my alarm clock tateo is 7"

Everything seems to look much better in the video. Makes me want to preorder...... the camera.:lol

Thanks. Sideshow Luke is not tall enough for Sideshow Leia.:lol

My results, using a different source image, came to just about the same results. I wanted to use a different source to compensate (differently) at least a little bit for perspective. And I tried to be generous and forgiving, but no matter how much I let slide, I just can't see them being the correct heights. The difference is just too great to be made up by the issues with the photo(s). Even without having them lined up it's pretty easy to see that R2 is far less substantial than he should be compared to 3PO. He's short, but he's a fat ******* of a little guy. ;)

Personally I would be disappointed if the relative size difference between R2 and 3PO is out by too much.
I can even put it down in numbers :lol anything beyond 5% is quite unacceptable.:(

No matter how much everyone complains they both will sell and sell out. Past history shows no matter how off scale or how bad a sculpt, they always sell out eventually.

Hey all, I'm a bit new to collecting 1/6 SW figs. I know HT just got the license for 1/6 SW, but did I hear a rumor that HT was somehow involved in developing some of the SS SW 1/6 figs? If so, which ones? I'm trying to decide which of the latest SS figures will, hopefully, integrate with the future HT figures. I've already ordered Prototype Boba and I'm on the wait list for the regular Boba and ROTJ Vader. Now I'm debating whether to get R2-D2, C-3PO, Scout Trooper and the Speeder Bike. Thoughts?

"A" license. Hasbro has "THE" master license. It's a fine point, but extremely important. Hasbro's is exclusive, Hot Toys' is not. That means Hasbro gets to make decisions about others getting these non-exclusive licenses.

but did I hear a rumor that HT was somehow involved in developing some of the SS SW 1/6 figs?

None of the latest figures have any input from Hot Toys that's been published.

I'm debating whether to get R2-D2, C-3PO, Scout Trooper and the Speeder Bike. Thoughts?

Get them all.
