It is possible to dremel the HT hat opening a little bit to make it slightly bigger. You could also heat the bottom with a blow dryer then place it on the head. I don't have the figure yet so I don't know if either of these are super helpful or not.

Great pics. But I think that looks horrible. Yours seems to have way more paint on it? The lack of detail on the face molding and plasticky look combined with the over the top shadowing and paint on the face is just bizarre looking to my eyes. Awful texture.The tree truck neck with the god awful SS "detailing" cracks. Looks like a cheap toy that got airbrushed. The eyes are the best that SS have done for a while though.

Well that's certainly the best pictures I've seen of the face. Very gritty and dirty, which I like. I don't like the odd lower eyelashes -- they seem to jump out at me, but I know its the macro picture.

If only the hat was better. It's so much a part of the face.

Those are macro shots, and they look good to me. I'm looking at HT Jack Sparrow DX, 2 feet from me and I can't see the fine nuances that these macro shots show. The only thing that I have trouble with is the price. This will be $300 CAD, but I want a TOD Indy, can't afford the custom route that will ultimately cost more. This may be (cough, cough) one of Sideshow's best pieces ever in 1:6. (at least judging by the numerous photos above.)

Have to agree with Wor-Gar about the lower eyelashes, only thing that jumps out at me in those photos. Not sure I'll stray from Star Wars only, but this is a strong contender.

I think everybody is struggling with the fact that sideshow jus schooled Hot Toys on something. Get over it people! It's a good sculpt of Indiana! FINALLY! Price is suck though......

The sculpt actually does look a lot like Ford. It is much better than HT's sad attempt. The paint apps are an improvement from past releases but need work.

I see a bit of Pirates Depp in the paint apps and maybe even in the eye area sculpt, but I might just have to pick this up.

Can't imagine you'd see those eyelashes in-hand 1:1.

Interested to see how much of the red marks can be removed to have a "clean" Indy (and also how much of the welt/scratches are sculpted - there may be sculpted bumps.) I wonder if the Isopropyl trick will do it like with the weathering on R2 etc.

I wouldn't call it way short, but it's a little underwhelming overall. It's definitely better than the HT (yeah faint praise,) so that's a step in the right direction, but I'm always bothered when I look at sculpts and say "Depp's eyes, Bill Murray's mouth..." but overall this does a decent job of capturing TOD Indy from certain angles.

I think customizers may get some good results with this, starting with a different hat and bag.

Looks like shirt collar's a bit out of control like the HT. Holster/belt is a big step up from HT's poor effort and SSC's outdated version.

Anyone care to try Sideshow's spare hat that came with the original Indy? I know it's not the right hat, but it might be worth a shot.

I know some people out there like the idea of being able to take his hat on and off, but I would have been quite happy if it was permanently sculpted to the head if it meant a better hat shape.

Agree with that. Displaying Indy without his hat is like weird sexy fan-fic. No thank you!

The lashes aren't like that on mine. In fact, the whole paintwork on mine looks more subtle, and very much like the work you'd expect on a HT figure.

The figure really is a revelation, and hopefully the turning point for Sideshow. As Matt Bischof wrote in a PM to me, "He is not the easiest figure to photograph".

There is so much Harrison Ford in the sculpt that it's uncanny compared to previously released versions of Harrison Ford figures by both SS and HT. The paintwork then raises it to another level. SS also captured the essence of Ford. The expression that comes through the eyes and the facial muscles is distinctly Ford.

So many figures end up blank-faced, such as Hot Toys' ANH Han Solo. Sometimes we get lucky and they give us something more, such as the quiet determination on Hot Toys' Obi-Wan. Sideshow went a bit further with Indy and gave us determination building up to some form of violent action, or at the very least an angry wave of the Ford finger.

To be fair, in this incarnation of the character his shirt was wrecked.

Saying that, since I took all my photos I trained the shirt a little by pulling it closer to his neck. It helps to conceal the long-necked appearance, which is a side effect of having bodies designed to wear clothes, and then not have them actually wear them as intended. If that makes any sense!

Dipping the head slightly also helps to conceal the neck.



Essentially, it's not a scene specific interpretation of Indy from TOD. His shirt would need to be more wrecked looking and with a permanent wet appearance - from sweat and then the mine flood.

That could be done with weathering, and I'm sure some will do that. But for me, figures don't need to be scene specific, but merely represent the character, because when I see them I imagine them existing in an expanded universe, or at the very least in deleted scenes that never were. It's the same with my Star Wars figures.

This Indy out of the box, to me, is more reminiscent of the posters and promotional material for the film.
