Sideshow 1/6 Jabba and Throne

Too much cheddar for me to jump in on blind faith for a Sideshow piece, no matter how much I want a Jabba on my shelf. Particularly when I already dislike the visible seams around the mouth, which stand out way too much for my liking. I shudder to think how the factory version could wind up...

Will wait and see how the production piece turns out, and decide from there. Meanwhile I'll just quietly hope that Hot Toys does their own version...

Just preordered from BBTS. They say it qualifies for $4 shipping. I took a screenshot to him led them to their advertised rate. ��

I had the original, but sold it when I was pregnant. I sort of missed this set, so this was a wonderful surprise. I hope they rerelease the Gamorrean Guard, which go for $300 on eBay.

Might be cheaper with Sideshow depending on reward points you earn on the purchase minus shipping.

BBTS's NRD is damn near the cost of a 1/6th figure.

Again, they have little confidence that people won't cancel this come Dec.

Throw me in the camp waiting on HT version to at least be able to compare the two. For that price and the known variance between SSs proto work to finished product, I just can’t commit close to $1K when another version may be(probably be) better. I think this should’ve been priced at around $495 if it’s all just plastic.

Price and nitpicks aside, seeing this gave me the same feeling that I once had opening the original for Christmas back in '83. Very cool SS.

I’m hoping that a Hot Toys version is around the corner and this is some desperate ploy by Sideshow to try and get ahead of them and get a few suckers to commit to dropping that much for this piece.

I was excited to see this too. Not getting it. But it was a fun surprise... really would like an upgraded Jabba... just don't feel this is the one.

It does seem highly unusual to reveal such a massive, high-priced item and have it ship in just seven months, and also no tease announcement - just straight to pre-order and instantly available at BBTS?

Given the Solo movie coming out so soon (which you know must have a Jabba cameo,) my guess is they got wind of a HT Jabba and rushed this out. There's no other explanation for the compressed timeline on this.

Sideshow has been dragging announcement-to-ship-date to over 18 months a few times in the past year or two for regular figures. Seven months for this scale of product is super suspicious.

Given the Solo movie coming out so soon (which you know must have a Jabba cameo,) my guess is they got wind of a HT Jabba and rushed this out. There's no other explanation for the compressed timeline on this.

My bet: HT Jabba SDCC 2019

This is the strangest Sideshow reveal ever -- just throw it out there on a Tuesday with no fanfare.

All-in-one too... no separate Jabba. No lessor priced options. It's almost like a tester for HT to price their Jabba.

I would honestly consider a Jabba upgrade, but I have no need for a new throne or Crumb set. I think this would be a great candidate for an ala carte offering if SS were thinking strategically... Sadly, they don't seem to do that much.

I was very excited and couldn't believe this, then saw the price and my enthusiasm died. This seems overpriced for what I'm seeing, and I've rarely said that about releases unless its blatant.

I won the original SSC Jabba at Celebration four in L.A. in SSC trivial pursuit Q and A.lol
The weird looks i got when getting on the plane back to Australia with it.
This one looks great but NOT at that price.

Remaking the Dewback might have been a better idea (assuming they aren't already planning to) because then people who purchased the original would have the option of owning two separate ones for their Sandtrooper displays. But nobody needs two Jabbas. It just seems that for the price that they would be better off releasing an item that would appeal to everyone whether they purchased the first one or not.

If they do this, hope theres a least a small amount of customization for people who don't want identical dupe mounts.
