Better/expensive would be the Tamshii, but it’s heavy diecast so that could be a positive or negative. The Sideshow 3PO is nice though and HT just teased one in the latest R2 pics.
Sorry if I made things difficult for anyone.
So I just realized that I should probably finally break down and buy a decent C-3PO figure to go with the new Jabba (I've been using a repainted Hasbro figure up until now). Is the Sideshow figure the best option or is there something else like a model kit that might be better/cheaper?

The Hot Toys tease was for an AOTC version.
A 3PO from HT would probably be die-cast and cost around $350. Sideshow’s 3PO is still available for $235. Just food for thought.
Why would it be die-cast? I don’t think it would.
I’m happy with most of my SSC figures, but I would wait for ht for a better 3po. I think the SSC one looks toyish when it comes to material and paint.

Well apparently we up up to the third version tease from HT and not one has gone up for PO, so it depends how long he wants to wait.
I think I would find Crumb aggravating being that fragile despite that he looks better than the old one. One fall from the shelf and he's done for.
I live in earthquake country. No bueno for fragile Crumb.

I took sometime to update my Bib Fortuna to look a little better. Repainted the eyes, subtle paint wash to the face, body swap, water treated the robes and airbrushed them a darker shade. I think he looks a little more presentable now.
