I've seen two different people with this same issue in a photo... WTF does it mean???

It means R2 has a hole in his head:slap

j/k the projector on the top of his dome has been pushed in during shipping, or maybe not put there at all.

the end of the world of course........:panic::panic::panic:

nah, I contacted ssc and hopefully they just send a replacement. I think I could fix it if I set my mind to it but I would rather not. does anyone know if light comes out of that part? it doesn't have a wire to it that I can see but does have a place on the bottom that looks as if it could.

and the projector is loose inside the dome.

It is a non functioning projector.

thanks qbomb. it's loose inside and I might be able to fish it out but the rubber grommet is making that a bit of a chore and I would rather not risk breaking anything in the process of trying.

only way to put the projector back properly would be to unscrew the bottom part of R2's head and access the dome surface from under.

Well i gotta say i think R2 is great. My one came with no issues. Even if i turn him upside down only the top panels want to open, the blue panels on his front are tight and need slight force to open up. He is indeed pretty fragile, but owning grevious, it was'nt anything i could'nt handle or anticipate for. Just take your time with him.
The lightsaber compartment was a cool idea, but on the figure, is not practical. And i don't think it's worth breaking him to store it in there.
Here's how i set him up for now, sorry about the crappy quick pics
Great job SSC imo ! !

Also can't wait to upgrade 3po and Chewy

Received mine. Joints and feet are tight. I found nothing floppy about the compartment doors. My son said "it feels like a toy". Oh well.

Got a big scratch on the eye and the two long compartments won't sit flush. Other than that, I'm quite pleased, lol.

Try sliding the tools support arms all the way up inside the compartments. That should help panels to sit flush.

Anyone have photos of the Hasbro R2 next to Sideshow's? If there already is a comparison pic in this thread already just point me to it.

Couple of quick crappy pics of my R2...

Outside of the left panel being a little loose R2 is pretty solid. I don't get all the "He's really fragile" comments. Like someone said earlier, some of you guys must have gorilla hands with the grace of a bull in a china closet. :monkey3 J/K

Anyway I'm really happy to have R2 in my collection. :D Bring on 3PO! :rock

Hey, no one but no one is more anti-commie than me (I've had relatives who spent much of their lives living under communism) so I'm not laughing but I'm interested to know whether either Sideshow or Hot Toys use factories that are sweatshops or whether they're contractually obliged to ensure working conditions are humane.

We're used to Sideshow products arriving with missing parts, I hope that's not the case with the workers who make them.

All the studios have rigorous requirements that factories making licensed products must meet. Disney is one of the toughest. I'd imagine Lucasfilm was equally so. Another reason licensed product is more expensive than bootlegs.
