If you think Lucas, or anyone else, conceived those explanations at any time prior to or during the production of the original movies, I have a bridge to sell you.

Is there a comic to explain away Kenobi's "I don't recall ever owning a droid" :rotfl

Coupled with the comic, plus what I already said, yes Vader knows who C-3PO is.

Kenobi never did own a droid so there is not a problem with that.

People cant stop ******** ten years later about the PT and and are already starting complaining now, I feel bad for them.

There are parts and characters of the PT that I really dig. Maul, Dooku, The last battle between Anakin and Kenobi, the Geonosis Arena battle with tons of Jedi getting their ***** handed to them, Mace getting his arm chopped off, Anakin getting his arms chopped off multiple times, Dooku getting beheaded, Jango getting beheaded, an entire tribe of Tusken Raiders getting cut to pieces... basically anytime anyone gets chopped up by a lightsaber is pretty freaking cool.

That being said, even though I am a fan of the Legends (Excommunicated from Cannon EU) there is a point of complete disenchantment and I am afraid that the Anakin/3PO connection is it for me (other than midiclorians, and Jar Jar of course). This was completely after "thought" on Lucas' part and was not at all conceivable at any moment in the show. The Robot Chicken where Vader is telling Luke all this garbage and he just walks out of frame saying "If you're not even going to take the serious then I am out of here" is classic and sums up a lot of how I feel about these glaring plot devices.

All that said, I cant help but get excited about the new films.

BTW, I was complaining about a comic, not the PT. BTW, when was that comic published?

I wasn't referring to you, my bad if it seemed that way, just in general.

The comic was published December 20, 2000 in Star Wars Tales 6, apparently it was considered canon, although as of now I am not so sure, should be since it occurred during the events of ESB.

But, I can understand the argument of George back then not having Vader know who C-3P0 was, but for me after the release of the comic I viewed that he did know who he was and just never showed it. I mean some big bad*** loving a droid would not be acceptable, that is why the rare moment of him holding 3POs head to his still shows that he is still Anakin and can be redeemable. I really wish that scene was in ESB, just for the fact that it shows Vader still has emotions of love and compassion and can be saved by Luke from the dark side come ROTJ.

You know... sometimes the mystery is way more exciting than a huge spiel of exposition... Handicapped the Prequels from being awesome and in this case is just too much to buy into for me. It was a piece of crap droid that luck/the force would have malfunction at an opportune time so that the droids could stay together and meet Luke.

To me, the whole serendipity thing of Luke growing up on the same planet as Anakin but Vader never actually revisiting the planet after his mother's death or putting two and two together after all these years is just too much. Just as Vader seeing C3pO numerous times over the OT and never letting on that he built the M.F'n guy - come on. I hated that connection. Or that Chewbacca knew Yoda? are F'n kidding me?... lets not drag our secondary droid characters into this over-told, over-expanded crap.

Old comics are not canon - and for good reason apparently. You can't explain away in a comic things that are only flaws because of a new production. I mean, you can try, but it's just trite BS. If they want to fix the issues caused by the PT, remove those from canon and make a new prequel trilogy that actually fits the groundwork of what was set up in the OT.

I think part of being a SW fan is having a relationship to the franchise as if it's your family.
You know their flaws, they're not perfect, there's things you wish you could change, but you love them anyway.

Exactly. You don't disrespect the SW:OG. (That's not a typo) ;)

Vader did revist the planet, he assumed the children died with Padme.

Vader did know he built C-3PO, he told an imperial to give the droid back to Chewbacca, now if he didn't know 3PO he would have just had him destroyed......

I would love a statue of that last panel.

Would half a statue work?

I never understood the logic of why the ultimate villain character had to build the finicky butler comic relief character.:dunno

I try to ignore all the retconning, PT, EU and so on, but I have to say...I can't look at Vader the same way anymore. Part of it is I've obviously outgrown the character, but he went from a mysterious villain with a dark past to a misguided emo kid in a cape. To my taste that image of him with Threepio's head is laughable and pathetic.

My low opinion of some of these creative decisions isn't restricted to the PT. I don't buy the "redemption" garbage from ROTJ. His character was a genocidal murderer. There is no coming back from what he did. That truth would have made the Dark Side truly dark and frightening (if destroying entire populated planets wasn't dark enough already).

Don't worry, I get that elements of these stories are not to be taken too seriously, so I won't lose sleep over it. OMG lightsabers!!1! :rotfl

In all honesty, I've found the retconning seen in Robot Chicken far more engaging and interesting than anything in the PT or EU.

Ok, I like the character but $140 bucks? Sideshow is out of their mind. I wouldn't pay over $110 for this. As others have said, I'll wait for it to be coupon eligible with a discounted price, double rewards, and free shipping. I can wait a year. :)

...check that, 2 years :)

I've been playing Battlefront 3 and every time this guy walks across my scree, I think bout how cool it would be to start a little Astromech Droid display, but then reality hits when I see the price:lol

To me the price isn't the thing holding me back - it's the size. I love my SSC R2 (it really is a great figure despite all the complaining) but almost every time I look at him or see a pic, I'm reminded of the 10% underscale aspect.

And R5's coming from the same mold, so even with his new head, he's going to be too small. Not laughably too small like Medi, but noticeably too small.

Your pre-order of the R5-D4 - Sixth Scale Figure (100074) will be arriving into our U.S. warehouse in approximately 10 days at which time we will charge your card for the item.
