Depends on the piece (and sculptor), IMO. Rick O'Connell, the recent T-1000 statue, and the recent John Connor statue were real misses to my eye, to name some recent ones. You can kind of tell who they're supposed to be, but that's not gonna cut the mustard with Reeve Superman (or Ledger Joker), IMO. Fans will RAAAAGE if they don't meet some baseline expectation.

I wonder if DC/Sideshow will commision Hot Toys to do the 1/6 Figures, Hot Toys is starting to do alot more WB related properties.
I wanna see Batman Arkham Asylum 1/6 Figure (Bats & Joker!)
Smallville 1/6 Clark Kent with TW Likeness, a Green Arrow would be cool!

I have seen some of that stuff, and I don't remember seeing any sculpture by Grove or Bergholtz that looked that bad after the paint (apart from 1/6th scale figures), though I'm not the biggest statue guy so I might not know of some glaring examples. I don't think they worked on any of the statues I was referring to, but I could be mistaken.
Having said that, production paint isn't the same as prototype paint, and guys like SmallStudios and SilentSurfer do a pretty damn good job in the latter department IMO. It is in the production where pieces do more frequently fail than they should due to paint apps IMO.

Epic news. Not a huge fan of the DCU but I love everything Batman related. Bats, Joker, Bane, Catwoman, etc....
I'll be picking up all of those and a few other oddball pieces. Can't wait for a Deathstroke, and Wonder Woman statue as well. Who am I kidding? It ALWAYS starts out with that kind of thinking doesn't it?
I hope they ditch the 1/5 scale thinking in the DC line. Start this line off right SSC. Make PFs and Comiquettes in 1/4 scale. Any 1/4 scale fully sculpted DC piece will get major consideration from me.

I doubt we'll see any major movie 1/6 figures from SS especially from TDKR and MoS. When it comes to movies, I see them doing jsut like they've been donig with marvel characters, HT produces the 1/6 movie versions and SS produces the PF movie verions. I think we'll be seeing more comic version in terms of 1/6 figures.

I just hope they do a decent catwoman (Jim Lee) style. Not like the goofy, too big chest having, way too tall, lame looking dc direct version.

It all depends on who's sculpting but I agree that in most cases the PF's likeness has been inferior to HT where they have done the same characters
But anything Trevor does is sure to be win

All depends. The Terminator 1 PF is a perfect example. His sculpt is dead on but the prototype shots on Sideshow's website make him look more like the sourpuss dude who played the main baddy in Cobra.
I'd say batman & superman would be in the first couple releases
