Based on 37 Star Wars and 26 Marvel items still In Stock, I'd say that SS has accepted that they can't be releasing as many pieces as before. So many people on this forum have stated that they're being more picky about what they buy these days.

After the migraine inducing Spook this past year, I'm not expecting much. :lol

I thought last year's Spook was terrible. No theme, no hokey [in a good way] video's. Even the Criswell segments [if you can call them that]were terrible. It appeared to me all the time, effort, and passion of SS's employee's in previous years was replaced with prizes.....and it was a failed experiment IMO.

SS didn't release a single LOTR product at last year's event, but they did release that very informative introductory maquette video and that gave us something worth discussing for several months. These events don't necessarily have to be about new products......

It's disappointing that we're not gonna get all the hoopla of year's past, but I guarantee you that we'll hear less whining about no products being announced than if they actually had list of announcements. There's just no pleasing teh internetz.

Isn't Toy Fair an industry show? A lot (I'm guessing, the majority) of Sideshow's business is direct to the consumer, so there really isn't a need to attend a show like this, or even make a big deal of it.

No Toy Fair = bigger, better SDCC? Maybe? :dunno

I don't know, I can remember in years past of all the major companies like GG and Sideshow playing TF up big, much like they do with SDCC. It's was exciting to be a part of that. But the collectibles industry isn't what it used to be. I guess I'm still trying to get used to companies scaling back on appearances/online events and product announcements. The glory days of collecting are over.

Darkness premium format was revealed at Toy Fair. Sux that SS isn't doing anything special this year. I always looked forward to Toy Fair.

SDCC better be off the ____in charts this year!!

They said that in year's past but this last SDCC was a snoozefest. They announced most of the new stuff before it even started. :(

Gotta agree with you there, the fact that we had seen everything before the show even started took out all the excitement of running to the SS booth on preview night to see all the new stuff and made it a bit lackluster. I ran to Mattel instead and really didn't get to the SS booth til Saturday.
