He's my most wanted from sideshow.

Really, I thought the iconography is similar to the Twillik girl and the Spider monkey images. Maybe none of it is very star warsy.

Despite my board name and avatar I'm actually a 70's kid so I'm really hoping for Walrus Man, Nien Nunb and Ree Yees just to name a few.

I don't see how they haven't done a few more of the 'classics' by now.

Saying that I don't mind the Clones and if it helps pay for future releases then that's ok.

Clones are to Sideshow what Iron Man is to Hot Toys. At this point it's almost a like joke to see how many repaints they can actually do of these characters. I fell off quite a ways back but obviously there continues to be a thriving market for it.

Good point nexus. On the other hand the HT IM line is a little more expensive. However I am waiting on the custodian clone trooper. I wonder what color markings this trooper will have.....

Seriously, though...just like the Cad Bane/Clone figure, this isn't getting in the way of other figures people want made. You know that Clone Completest collectors either want this figure or would customize another clone just to make one. So I'm sure Sideshow is all "Why Not?" with these Clones. No one's making us buy it.

Exactly. Its already 99% done so how could it hold up other characters. I am buying this one and probably many others to come.

We're still waiting because of all the R&D (whether it pays off or not) new sculpts, new tailoring, multiple approvals, changes, etc.
Clones like these are not getting in the way of other figures, because it's taking very little to NO time away from departments R&D, Sculpt, Tailoring, etc.
New Paint pattern and final approval from the powers that be are (simplified) the only things that need to go into these variations of clones that have the same armor molds. This process can be done fairly easily while NEW figures are still in development or are being made.
I doubt anyone at SSC is thinking or even saying "Let's release a Bomb Squad Trooper instead of Dooku or Chewbacca, etc.

I understand the disappointment, when a new figure announcement isn't the one you want...but with a figure like this? It's not taking another figure's place.
